Vol 1 Chapter 41

"I got caught in a weird event quest, and this person just snatched it away. It's not a big deal. Isn't that right?"

As Kapros spoke with a slight smirk, the silver armor turned around, asking, "Yes...?" His expression had been indignant, but the moment his eyes met Kapros's, he froze. He looked rather dazed for some reason. The face of Kapros reflected in his eyes must have looked quite wicked.

"You seem to be enjoying this."

Yu-wan said with a smirk as he observed this.

"Not really."

It had been a while since Kapros felt someone was on his side, and it was mischievously fun. Yu-wan also seemed to have completely let his guard down, taking his usual place beside Kapros.

"It's the first time I've seen such an amused expression on you."

As Yu-wan whispered this in his ear, bowing his head slightly, Kapros realized something.

Yu-wan was taller than him.

Noticing that Yu-wan's eyes, though seemingly expressionless, were faintly curved, Kapros shrugged.

"Just, you know."

It was just that this black panther-like guy had stepped a little closer inside the line drawn within Kapros. And only then did the silver armor, forgotten by both of them, seem to come to his senses and approach.

"So, those guys were NPCs?"

Seeing his completely bewildered expression, Kapros decided to give up on the idea of teaching him a lesson. He felt better just knowing that Yu-wan wasn't the type to pretend not to know or ignore his companions.

As Kapros quietly nodded, the silver armor sighed.

"My name is Kratos. Your companion's skill is, well, incredible. He's the first person to completely block my sword. When I first saw you, I thought three people were trying to do something to a weak person, so I just rushed in, but if it was a quest, I certainly made a mistake."

After saying that, he bowed his head to Kapros.

"I'm sorry. How can I make it up to you?"

Although his attitude was still burdensome, the silver armor's unexpectedly straightforward admission of fault and polite apology left a good impression. The fact that he looked genuinely sorry also played a part.

"There's no need for com..."

"If you're sorry, then get lost."

Just as Kapros was about to say, 'There's no need for compensation, it's fine,' Yu-wan cut in coldly. Surprised by this unexpected behavior, Kapros looked at Yu-wan.

Hmm... He thought Yu-wan was indifferent to others, but he had this side to him. Or maybe he just particularly disliked this person. Either way, it was clear that Kapros was seeing a different side of Yu-wan, whom he had thought to be just taciturn and quiet until now.

Even Kapros thought that would really piss off the person hearing it, but the silver armor who had introduced himself as Kratos didn't seem much different as he jerked his head up and started glaring back at Yu-wan. For a moment, Kapros had the illusion that sparks were flying.

"I apologized to him, not to you."

"We're companions, so it doesn't matter."

"What does being companions have to do with it? It was between the two of us, so unnecessary people shouldn't interfere!"

Kratos finally switched to informal speech. At that, Yu-wan's eyes flashed like those of a beast, and he casually started to reach for his sword hilt again.

"Between the two of us. I'm curious about what that means."

"What's with this guy? You want to fight?"

There was more killing intent exchanged than words. While Kapros leaned slightly more towards Yu-wan, whom he had met first, his primary desire was to have no interest in the two of them competing.

"If you want to compete, go ahead. I'm leaving first."

As Kapros nonchalantly stepped aside and left the alley, two voices followed shortly after.

"Wait a moment! I must apologize properly!"

"Wait!"

Both of them were unexpectedly interesting guys, different from their first impressions. If kept together as a set, there would never be a dull moment. Kapros smiled slightly and looked up at the blue sky of Mist.

In the end, due to Kratos insisting on apologizing and compensating despite enduring Yu-wan's intense gaze, they entered a tavern. It was Kapros's first time entering such a place, so he was secretly curious.

It wasn't that there weren't taverns in Asgar, but he had never visited one. Come to think of it, he wondered if it was true that in THE MIST, even the taste of food felt exactly the same as in reality.

"Ah! Who do we have here? Mr. Kratos! It's been a long time since you've come."

A person who seemed to be a tavern employee approached and greeted them with a genuinely delighted expression. Kratos grinned and scratched the back of his head.

"It has been. How's business these days?"

"Ever since Mr. Kratos beat up and chased away those troublemakers who were causing a ruckus while drunk, we haven't had any more drunkards, and it's been so comfortable. But... who are these people behind you?"

"Ah. I brought them to treat them to a drink."

"If they're Mr. Kratos's guests, they're VIPs at our establishment. I'll bring three cold beers right away."

After the employee disappeared, Kapros, curious about what the employee had said, asked Kratos.

"Can users get drunk and cause a ruckus too?"

"Haha. You didn't know? It's already famous that the alcohol in Mist really makes you drunk, and even your drinking habits come out exactly the same as in reality. Because of that, there are sometimes people who can't control themselves because it's a game and drink too much, causing property damage."

And you took care of those people, I see.

As Kapros averted his gaze from Kratos's sparkling eyes, he thought that somehow this guy resembled Kion-hyung a bit. Of course, Kion-hyung didn't act like he was some avatar of justice (even on the way here, there were people who recognized him on the street and thanked him several times) but rather had a personality that thoroughly crushed those who went against his own sense of justice...

While conversing with Kapros, Yu-wan and Kratos continued to growl at each other. It was a funny sight, as if water and fire had met. It seemed they had felt an intense hostility towards each other from the moment they met.

"What's your ulterior motive?"

As Yu-wan muttered in a low voice, Kratos laughed as if in disbelief.

"Ulterior motive? I just wanted to treat him to something delicious out of a feeling of apology. And well... It's not a crime that I wanted to see him again."
