Vol 1 Chapter 49

The streak of lightning that left Kapros's hand and flew like an arrow immediately hit one of the nearest hounds.

Boom boom boom!

"Kaaah!"

That was just the beginning. Soon, enormous streaks of light began to branch out like tree limbs, connecting enemies to enemies and exploding. A series of tremendous roars that could shake the entire maze erupted. It was an incredible sight!

Kapros laughed again and spoke to Yu-wan and Kran, who were looking at him as if he were a stranger.

"I'm always like this when I'm in a good mood, so you'd better get used to it quickly."

Yu-wan shook his head.

"...You're crazier than you look."

"Your face doesn't look like it, but you really seem evil."

Kran agreed with those words.

"Shut up. It's good if we resolve this without getting hurt."

The words flowed easily because he was in a good mood. Maybe it was because of these two people who were showing signs of agreement despite their words.

Kran finished off the hounds that were still trembling and alive even after being hit by Chain Lightning.

"Punish the evil enemies! Holy Crush!"

As soon as he finished speaking, a white explosion occurred at the tip of his sword as it drew a cross. It was an incredibly sharp force, but the energy of light was warm. It was the first time Kapros had seen him use a skill, and the skill name was somewhat unique, piquing his curiosity. Until now, Kapros had thought he was just a swordsman and hadn't asked anything.

"The skill name...?"

"Ah, I'm a paladin. Didn't I mention that?"

Although it was the first time Kapros had seen a paladin, more than that, the job matched Kran's image so well that Kapros smiled slightly.

"Now that we've almost cleared everything, let's go to the next passage ahead."

Kran said, shaking off blood. Yu-wan also agreed as he sheathed his sword dripping with dark red blood.

"So far only hounds have appeared, but we don't know what will come out when we pass through the next door."

Perhaps because they had dealt with the hounds too easily, they didn't feel particularly alert. But Kapros fully realized how much they had underestimated this maze after being pulled through the next door by the arms of the two men.

The first thing Kapros felt upon passing through the door was a strange energy that made the back of his neck instinctively shiver.

"What's this?"

It didn't seem like killing intent... What could it be? Yu-wan and Kran also looked around, trying to detect any enemies. This place had more broken walls compared to before. As they observed the stones scattered around, Yu-wan muttered lowly.

"...There are a lot of stones."

Suddenly, Kran flinched.

"Right, stones!"

Bang!

As if responding to his shout, the stones suddenly rose into the air and, with a loud noise, turned into human-shaped stone figures.

"They're Storers! They're known to be almost at golem level! They absolutely won't break, so just run!"

Kran, who had apparently died here a few times before, shouted and started running. Kapros and Yu-wan followed suit. As he ran, Kapros tried shooting a Fireball at the slowly pursuing Storers.

"Fireball!"

Pop!

However, the Fireball disappeared pathetically, leaving only a small spark without even chipping a single piece of stone from the Storer's body. This was despite it being a spinning Fireball.

"This can't be..."

As Kapros swallowed a groan, Kran glanced back and nodded as if he had expected this.

"That level won't work! Because they're made of stone, holy magic doesn't work either, and even fairly strong magic is ineffective, so running is the only option."

Yu-wan and Kran increased their speed, but Kapros started to fall behind due to the physical limitations of being a mage. It was better than in reality where he wouldn't have been able to keep up at all, but still, the feeling of falling behind wasn't pleasant. Moreover, the Storers, though slow, were pursuing with large strides matching their huge bodies. As Kapros was gritting his teeth and running, Yu-wan momentarily slowed down, approached him, and suddenly picked him up and slung him over his shoulder.

"Just until we escape."

Yu-wan said briefly to the surprised Kapros, and then quickly caught up with Kran again at an incredible speed.

Suddenly swaying like a sack, Kapros felt more shocked by Yu-wan, who had easily lifted him, than by the pain in his compressed stomach. Even though it was within Mist, carrying a person and maintaining this speed was no ordinary ability.

Had he raised his strength stat points enormously?

"Ah! What are you doing to Kap!"

Kran screamed, but Yu-wan only looked at him sharply before ignoring him with a snort. Soon after, Yu-wan completely overtook Kran.

"Stop!"

Kran, falling behind, shouted angrily as he chased after them.

...Didn't this make it look like Yu-wan was kidnapping Kapros? There was no sense of tension from being chased.

Finding it absurd, Kapros laughed while slung over the shoulder, and feeling this, Yu-wan patted his legs. Even in this situation, it tickled.

Finally, when they turned right, a door suddenly appeared. Yu-wan quickly stopped, roughly grabbed Kran's shoulder as he caught up, and rushed through the door. As they passed through, a whooshing sound brushed their ears. They emerged into a place densely populated with monsters that looked like red blood had taken form.

"Suaak!"

The coagulating monsters recognized them and charged. As Yu-wan quickly put Kapros down, Kapros shouted a defensive spell.

"Magic Shield!"

Bang!

As soon as he cast one large layer, the monsters collided with it and slid down in a disgusting manner as if hitting a wall. But moments later, they merged again and regained their original form. Kapros cast two more layers of Magic Shield and looked at Yu-wan and Kran.

"Those are Blood Sollers. Even if you cut them, they regain their form, but they're known to be weak against sword energy, electricity, and the holy skills I can use."

Kran provided information about the monsters as if he had been waiting to do so.

"Then, to conserve magical power, I'll launch Lightning Bolt all at once instead of Chain Lightning this time. Take care of the rest yourselves."

"Got it."

"Okay."

Blue sword energy flowed from Yu-wan's sword, and as Kran muttered something briefly, white light surged from his sword as well.

"That's impressive."

As Kran looked at Yu-wan's sword energy with surprised eyes, Yu-wan shrugged.

"Same to you."

"...Did you have to say that!"
