Vol 2 Chapter 2
'I need to become a 5th circle master quickly...'
Kapros followed Lucrecian again, making his way through the dark cave. After that, whether it was due to Lucrecian's good guidance or not, they reached the dungeon comfortably without encountering others.
"There are many monsters here that read auras well and move in packs."
Lucrecian said, holding a small dagger and the misty gem-embedded dagger in both hands.
"If there are too many, I probably won't be able to handle them all... Are you confident?"
Kapros answered with the same words Yu-wan had once said to him.
"What do you take me for?"
"That's right. As a Superior quest performer, you should give at least that much of an answer."
Lucrecian nodded with satisfaction and quickly continued.
"Here, hiding your aura is useless, so if hunting isn't your goal, you need to move as fast as possible. Well, if you can't keep up, I can carry you..."
Before Lucrecian could finish speaking, Kapros immediately placed his hand on his chest and shouted.
"Haste!"
Soon, a blue current wrapped around his body once, making it surprisingly light. Kapros stamped his feet to confirm that the magic had been applied well. Lucrecian whistled.
"Looks like there's no need to worry. Let's go then!"
Lucrecian, true to his long experience in this place, advanced through the dungeon without hesitation. With each of his casual touches, monsters that appeared vanished again in an instant. Kapros also took advantage of the gaps when Lucrecian was dealing with monsters to chant spells beside him.
"Thunder of the moment, lightning as long as eternity. In the instant connecting end to end, become one trajectory and rise as the light of the heavens, Chain Lightning!"
Dazzling light burst forth from his outstretched hands. The light that flew towards the monster horde and exploded connected in a chain, delivering a thrilling taste of electric shock to the entire group. With a booming sound, bone fragments scattered and fell here and there.
Lucrecian nodded with satisfaction as he watched the scene.
"Magic is good for dealing with multiple enemies."
"Well..."
Kapros grinned without denying it. As Lucrecian said, the monsters appearing in this dungeon were just annoying because they came in packs, but individually they were weak creatures that collapsed especially easily before magic.
Thanks to their not-so-bad combo play and Lucrecian's skilled guidance, they were able to advance deeper into the dungeon faster than expected.
"From here on, we need to be more careful. There are many creatures that are very small despite having deadly poison. It's better to suppress your aura as much as possible to avoid them."
After finishing his words, Lucrecian rolled his foot once and turned his appearance transparent. Kapros remembered that he had learned such a magic as well.
"Invisibility!"
This magic had the effect of making the body transparent. Although it couldn't erase the aura, just becoming invisible would be much better. Kapros's appearance didn't change from his own perspective, but he heard a small sound of admiring laughter from Lucrecian's direction.
"That's amazing! I'd believe it if you said you were an assassin."
Unlike what Kapros had imagined when he first heard about him, the real Lucrecian was quite cheerful and laughed a lot.
Soon after, as Lucrecian had warned, small insect-like monsters began to swarm in black clouds. Kapros immediately chanted a spell.
"Screw Fireball!"
Soon, about ten fireballs, burning in a beautiful spiral according to Kapros's image, engulfed the swarm of insects. Black ashes fell heavily under the fire.
Amidst the spectacular scene, they calmly passed through the flames. While passing by the still-burning insects, Kapros suddenly felt a sting on his shoulder, but he assumed it was from a spark and continued walking.
After passing through several corridors, Lucrecian released his invisibility skill. He surprised Kapros by accurately grabbing his invisible arm.
"...How did you know?"
As Kapros asked while deactivating Invisibility, Lucrecian answered with a grin.
"Because I like you, hyung."
He's giving an irrelevant answer when asked to explain. Kapros quietly pulled his arm away.
"Why did you suddenly deactivate the skill?"
"Because this is the end of the dungeon."
Kapros looked questioningly at the path stretching behind Lucrecian. It seemed like the middle rather than the end of the dungeon, and his words were incomprehensible.
"If you go further ahead, you'll return to the midpoint. So this is indeed the end."
As Kapros withdrew the foot he was about to step forward at those words, Lucrecian, who had been chuckling, soon reached out and firmly pressed a point on the cave wall with the end of his dagger handle.
Rumble!
Then, as if by magic, a passage large enough for two people to enter appeared.
"Amazing, isn't it? I discovered it by chance. I kept getting turned around at this point, so I found it suspicious."
Lucrecian's eyes, not covered by his mask, curved as he extended his hand to Kapros.
"Don't refuse this time. If you don't hold on, you won't be able to avoid the traps."
Kapros hesitated but eventually grasped his hand. Lucrecian moved around for a long time, pulling Kapros down. The descending path was steep, and to avoid traps, they had to step on specific spots skillfully, so Kapros had to rely on Lucrecian several times.
"Sorry."
As Kapros muttered briefly, feeling burdened by the countless times he had needed help, Lucrecian cheerfully replied.
"No need to apologize. I'm gladly helping because I like you, hyung. But if it's too difficult... How about holding my waist instead of my hand? It would be easier to go that way."
"Let go. I'll manage on my own."
"I was joking."
Kapros decided not to say sorry to Lucrecian anymore. After descending a steep slope that was difficult to walk without touching the walls for quite some time, Lucrecian finally spoke.
"Soon, we'll reach the place where I saw the quest memory."
Was it still not the end? As Kapros gritted his teeth, wondering how much further they had to go, Lucrecian burst into laughter.
"I'm enjoying getting closer to you, hyung, but it seems you don't like it."
