Vol 2 Chapter 25
Though its shape was unclear, the sparkling red color was definitely visible. It was emitting the same light as that coming from the pillar.
Along with the music, the screen gradually rose, showing from above the building that had been ruins until just now but was no longer. With that final image of the structure standing proudly yet ominously in the black darkness, a dazzling red light burst forth, and the screen faded to black once more.
The last sentence that rose up like a spreading stain before the video ended was as follows:
[Humans. Now there is no one left to save you...]
With the final guidance of 'The Return of Memories. 2. To Be Continued...', the screen that had been momentarily immersed in the afterglow turned off with a pop and returned to the notice board. However, Kapros remained motionless, recalling only the single name he had heard in the video as if engraving it in his mind.
'Lord Knight...!'
If he hadn't misheard, it was definitely that name. Moreover, there was the mention of "500 years" which could only be understood in one way by Kapros.
"..."
This video had taught Kapros many things. This update was clearly closely related to his quest. He also realized that the Knight of the Demon God, Lord Knight, who might be the greatest obstacle in his quest, definitely existed. Only after a long while did Kapros notice that there was a bit more text below the video and shifted his gaze.
[The Return of Memories episode videos will continue in the future.]
'It will continue in the future...'
This was no time to be sleeping comfortably. As Kapros was putting strength into his leg to quickly stand up, he turned his head again at the sudden ding sound.
'An email?'
[A video call is coming from number 01A-1169-G89SCB. Will you accept?]
Although puzzled by the video call, which was almost like a first-time occurrence, Kapros decided to accept it.
"Connect."
[Connecting.]
With a pop, the web page disappeared, and a person's upper body appeared three-dimensionally in front of Kapros's eyes like a hologram. At that moment, Kapros thought he might need to seriously consider his fortune for the day.
What kind of timing was this? He had just watched the video on THE MIST web page, and as if waiting for it to end, the person who appeared before him was Yoon Seok-ho, the head of Saturn's Korean branch.
[Hello. It's been a while, hasn't it? Mr. Kang Mu-heon.]
"You must be quite free to kindly call an ordinary customer, Mr. Yoon Seok-ho."
Kapros spoke slowly, looking at the broadly smiling Yoon Seok-ho in front of him. However, Yoon Seok-ho didn't mind at all and instead asked with a smile in his eyes.
[You seem to be enjoying yourself these days? Your eyes look much more alive. Isn't that more pleasant to see?]
Even after a long time, his glib personality remained unchanged. Kapros shook his head and opened his mouth.
"Computer. Disconnect immediately..."
[Won't you regret it if you don't listen?]
At the relaxed voice showing no sign of panic, Kapros momentarily stopped speaking. Yoon Seok-ho's confident face sparkled. But that was only for a moment.
"Disconnect."
As Kapros spoke coldly, the computer immediately responded.
[Disconnecting.]
Pop.
Only after Yoon Seok-ho's image disappeared instantly did Kapros's mood improve a bit.
How absurd. A threat? If he believed Kapros would stop at such words, he was mistaken. As Kapros stood up feeling annoyed, another ding sound rang out.
[A video call is coming from number 01A-1169-G89SCB. Will you accept?]
"No."
[A video call is coming from number 01A-1169-G89SCB. Will you accept?]
[A video call is coming from number 01A-1169-G89SCB. Will you accept?]
[A video call is coming from number 01A-1169-G89SCB. Will you accept?]
...
This bastard. Was he trying to challenge him?
Yoon Seok-ho's call attempts kept coming in without even giving Kapros time to turn off the computer. No matter how many times he refused, it was useless. Finally, Kapros glared at the computer with a hardened expression, arms crossed.
"Accept!"
[Connecting.]
Pop.
[Ah. Mr. Mu-heon. I was wrong. So please listen to me first.]
Kapros glared at Yoon Seok-ho. His leg started to hurt more unnecessarily. The unpleasantness combined with the pain made his irritation surge.
"What do you have to say?"
Yoon Seok-ho smiled with a sly face but began to engage in the conversation with a more serious attitude than before.
[The episode videos that have been coming out recently. You've seen them, of course?]
"Yes."
Although it was a question that somehow made the next words predictable the moment he heard it, Kapros answered briefly for now. Yoon Seok-ho smiled quietly and said, "The conversation will be easy then."
[We would like to request Mr. Kang Mu-heon's character to appear in that video series.]
It was as expected. The company would naturally be aware of which users were performing which quests, so Kapros had thought that if the Knight of the Demon God user appeared in the video, he would also be contacted somehow as he was doing the same quest. Although he hadn't expected Yoon Seok-ho to contact him directly.
"I refuse."
Kapros flatly refused without needing to hear more. However, Yoon Seok-ho wasn't flustered. Rather, he looked as if he had expected this.
[Of course, it must be burdensome to show yourself in front of many people. I understand. Even those who have already appeared all said the same thing at first.]
Yoon Seok-ho, who had politely agreed, stroked his chin in a pose that looked like it could be from a business suit catalog.
[But we're not making this request without any compensation.]
"..."
[As you probably anticipated from today's video, the quest you're currently undertaking, Mr. Kang Mu-heon, is greatly connected to MIST's main episode. It's no exaggeration to say that each step you take for the quest will become a big movement that determines the future of the entire game. In fact, I was really surprised and impressed by the fact that you became a part of this quest. I couldn't help but shudder at my eye for people...]

As soon as he arrives at the office, he buries himself under a blanket and falls asleep. When he goes out on a mission, he causes accidents and returns to the office, often shirking his duties.

In fact, his true identity is someone who has regressed through three lives, trying to save the world from the Great Rift but failing each time. After repeating a life where he couldn't sleep peacefully even for a day, he became completely exhausted before this life even began.
"I know. You worked hard, Jin Soram."
And then there's Han Tae-un, the man who saved Soram and died in all three previous lives. As he did in every life, he comes to Soram's side once again. The Great Rift is approaching soon. It's impossible to resolve it in this life without any preparation. Soram vows to save Tae-un in this life and die himself. At least, he won't let Tae-un save a failure like himself again.
"For now, until then, let's sleep..."
As Soram sluggishly lives his life waiting for that moment, a gradual change occurs in his heart.
'I thought this was a messed-up round... but I want to live a little longer here.'
