Vol 2 Chapter 38
As Kapros nodded, Kion-hyung immediately went outside.
They wondered if it would be alright since they weren't members of this guild, but whatever Kion-hyung had said while they were inside, the guild members who had been surprised to see them enter earlier were now passing by without paying any attention to them, as if they were looking at cows or chickens.
'But somehow, all the guild members here...'
No matter how much he looked around, only square-faced men were swarming inside this building. Unpleasant-looking guys here, unpleasant-looking guys there. Moreover, the vivid scar marks on some of their faces and bodies were so large that they couldn't even be created intentionally when making a character. What on earth did these people do in real life?
With such doubts, Kapros glanced at Yu-wan while untangling Kran's arms that were hugging him. An indescribable emotion welled up in his heart every time he looked at Yu-wan. It wasn't betrayal, nor hatred, nor doubt, but it wasn't a particularly good feeling either. He felt perplexed.
'How strange.'
With an unpleasant feeling as if his chest area was tingling, Kapros quietly stroked his chest.
"By the way, Kap. What on earth did you talk about in there?"
Kran, who had been pried off with a whine, asked with a sigh. It was a perfunctory question, curious but not carrying much significance. As Kapros was pondering how to answer, his eyes met Yu-wan's. For a moment, his heart fluttered uneasily.
"We talked about how we've been doing. And hyung said we could stay here comfortably until your business is finished, so keep that in mind."
"My business? ...Ah."
Kran made an apologetic expression.
"My quest... I checked again, and it seems it might be trickier than I thought."
Puzzled by those words, Kapros looked at Kran, who waved his hands with a flustered expression and burst into an awkward laugh.
"Ah, no. That doesn't mean I can't do it at all. Hahaha."
"..."
"It's just that I need to diligently complete about ten mini quests with the NPCs in this city! It's nothing much! Hahaha!"
"..."
"...Urgh."
Kapros stared blankly at Kran, who was putting on a one-man show, laughing by himself and then clutching his chest, saying something like 'your cold face pierces my heart' and suffering, before turning his gaze back to Yu-wan.
Although Yu-wan's face was expressionless as always, Kapros's feelings as he looked at him had completely changed from just a moment ago. Just an hour or two ago, he thought he knew these guys' hearts well. But now, the possibility that it might not be so, that he might not know anything about the hearts of the people around him, that he might end up in a situation where he had to trust only himself again, made him anxious and uneasy.
He didn't like that anymore.
"...Kap?"
Yu-wan, finding Kapros's silence strange, tried to reach out his hand. Kapros instinctively flinched and took a step back.
And that reflexive action came as a small shock to both Yu-wan and Kapros.
'Why did I avoid him?'
Yu-wan hesitated, seemingly surprised, and then gradually began to change to a puzzled expression as he looked at Kapros's face. As Kapros looked at that face, he felt the emotions filling his mind becoming even more complicated. Until just a moment ago, he felt like all the questions in his heart would pour out at once when he saw Yu-wan, but now he didn't want to say anything.
In the end, Kapros thought it would be better to speak when his emotions were a bit more sorted out, and opened his mouth.
"Since hyung said to stay here comfortably, I'm going to practice magic until Kran's current quest is over."
As Kapros spoke slowly, trying to sound as normal as possible, Yu-wan, who had been staring at him with unreadable blue eyes for a moment, finally nodded after a while.
"Then I'll train too..."
"Huh? What's this? That's too much. I want to train with Kap too!"
"I'm not doing it with anyone. You just focus on finishing your quest quickly."
"My health is depleting from this merciless attack... Urgh."
Fortunately, Kran didn't seem to notice the subtle tension that had passed between Yu-wan and Kapros, and playfully clutched his chest, pretending to writhe in pain. Kapros pretended to be exasperated by Kran's behavior and headed towards the stairs leading back to the second floor, passing by Yu-wan. As he brushed past, the feeling of Yu-wan's gaze fixed on his back was strangely vivid.
'Yu-wan...'
Two days had passed since Kapros had decided to shut himself in the room and only practice magic.
Strangely, he couldn't concentrate at all, so he decided to open Superior's swordsmanship scroll for the first time.
When he took out the white scroll from his item window, an antique-looking rolled paper appeared in his hand. As he unfolded it, a bright white light burst forth and enveloped his body. It didn't look dangerous, so he stayed still, and soon the light faded and a notification window popped up with a ding.
- The user's qualification is sufficient. The seal on Superior's Ma-Rakian Swordsmanship Style 1 has been lifted!
It seemed that the light just now, like with Superior's magic book, played a similar role in measuring qualifications to see if he was 5th circle or above. As the notification window disappeared and the scroll fell to the ground with a thud, another notification window suddenly appeared the moment he grasped it.
Ding!
- You have learned the skill of Ma-Rakian Swordsmanship Style 1. You can see detailed explanations in the skill window.
'What's this?'
It was the first time he had learned a skill through a scroll rather than a magic book, so he had been a bit excited, but he was dumbfounded to see it turn into powder and flutter away right after picking it up, along with the message that he had learned everything. Kapros stared blankly at the remains of the scroll that had completely disappeared and opened his mouth.
"Skill window."
Looking at the skill window, which wasn't much different from the magic he had learned so far, it seemed he would need to raise the percentage through repeated training to know what it was. The exact training method wasn't specified, but the mention of replenishing mana to the sword was probably a hint.
'If it's a sword-related skill, asking Kran or Yu-wan might be better...'
As he thought this unconsciously, Kapros soon frowned and shook his head.
'No. Let's just try to do as much as I can on my own.'
