Vol 2 Chapter 46

#(3)

Clang! Clang!

The clashing blades flashed like lightning as they drew arcs in the air.

"If you think you can escape so easily, you're mistaken! Take this!"

An angry shout accompanied the sound.

Boom boom boom boom boom!

Following that, magic spells rained down and exploded, but their target had already moved out of the way long before.

"Ilan!"

The voice calling for a comrade sounded quite desperate.

Even for Kapros, it took considerable time to grasp this chaotic situation before his eyes. From the moment he first arrived, this place had been in a state of melee. Although he was safe because he was using Fly to watch from atop a building, he had a different concern.

Ridiculously, the one being surrounded and attacked by all those unidentifiable people was just one person. It was Yu-wan, someone Kapros knew all too well.

Normally, Kapros should have helped the moment he recognized Yu-wan, but he didn't do so now. He felt the need to observe this situation a bit longer.

Currently, all the attackers were one group, and Yu-wan was alone. Naturally, one would think Yu-wan was in a one-sided disadvantage, but despite that, the side that was being pushed back wasn't Yu-wan. Although Kapros didn't know why they were fighting in a place like this, Yu-wan's movements, which he was seeing after a long time, were much faster and more powerful than before.

He lightly struck down a thrusting sword to change its direction, then dodged a fireball aimed at his chest. He also easily avoided the lightning bolt pouring down from above with a few steps, then approached the person behind it and threw them away with a strike. All his movements were as smooth as flowing water and powerful.

Thud, bang!

"Argh!"

Hmm. Nice throw.

Two more spells flew at him simultaneously, but this time too, Yu-wan sliced one with his sword and dodged the other. A clean kick, as if returning what he had received, mercilessly flew into the stomachs of two enemies.

"Ugh!"

Although it looked light, judging by how the opponents' eyes bulged so much they couldn't even scream, it was a well-landed kick. Of course, those two were knocked out without question.

It was impressive. From the first time Kapros saw him, he had really liked Yu-wan's movements. Was it because of his free and unrestrained style, as if not just his sword but his entire body was a weapon? Now that he had improved even more than before, he exuded an aura of a strong person that no one would dare approach easily, making it even harder to take one's eyes off him.

'When did his skills improve so much?'

There wasn't even a fragment of blue aura visible on Yu-wan's sword yet. Was he saying he could handle them without even using aura? However, those facing Yu-wan weren't pushovers either. Above all, numbers had their own secret weapon.

"Stay calm! Calmly! If we all launch fireballs at once, he won't have a chance to escape!"

That secret weapon was nothing other than attacking all at once unconditionally. Of course, its effectiveness had been proven throughout history. There's a reason for the saying "there's no match for numbers."

'By the way, is that woman shouting and encouraging people over there the leader?'

After briefly looking at the small woman who was hard to see clearly, Kapros turned his gaze back.

From what he had observed so far, peculiarly, the majority of that group consisted of mages. The reason why those who Yu-wan lightly threw down, struck, and kicked seemed to collapse so easily was because they were all mages with weak physical strength.

When the remaining members really started to surround Yu-wan and draw circles as the woman had said, Kapros thought it was time to stop watching and jump down from here. Yu-wan was still struggling to break out of the encirclement, but the tenacity of the two people desperately holding onto him was extraordinary.

Finally, as Yu-wan frowned and let out a short shout of effort before swinging his sword, Kapros saw a blue aura rising with a zing. At that moment, Kapros stared at Yu-wan's sword, forgetting even his intention to jump down.

That aura wasn't the faint blue light that seemed to form on the blade that Kapros had seen until now. The light stream that thickly enveloped the blade and extended even further upwards was clearly visible even from afar.

"Gasp... A complete aura!"

"Damn it, so he really wasn't just an advanced level in name only."

However, those who discovered this reacted as if they had expected it, even while being surprised. From their chatter, Kapros was able to pick up one word that could be useful information.

'Advanced? Do they mean advanced Sword Mastery?'

When they first met, Yu-wan had said his Sword Mastery skill was intermediate level. Kapros decided there was nothing more to see and jumped down from the roof while people were wavering.

"Magic Shield!"

As he jumped down, he wrapped himself in three or four layers of shields and landed behind Yu-wan. Instantly, everyone's attention turned to him.

"Who are you!"

There was no obligation to answer that question.

Seeing Yu-wan's eyes widen as he turned around, Kapros quietly smiled.

"What are you doing here?"

"...Kap."

The blue eyes that had returned to normal exhaled.

By the way, it's strange. When Yu-wan called his name, it felt more awkward than when others called it... Hmm...

"How did you..."

"I was originally just going to pass by, but when I saw from above, it looked pathetic so I came to save you. Why are you fighting?"

Yu-wan's shoulders shook slightly with laughter at Kapros's blunt answer, delivered with a blank expression filled with accumulated emotions.

'So he laughs like that too.'

However, that was only for a moment, and soon Yu-wan readjusted his grip on the sword and raised his head with a predatory smile.

"I don't know. But... if it looked pathetic to you, I'll try to do better from now on."

Simultaneously with those words, the aura that had been about 10 centimeters longer than the blade's tip suddenly shot up to over 30 centimeters. Kapros smiled and spread both hands.

"Chain Lightning."

Crackle crackle crackle!

"Ch-Chain Lightning...?!"

"Good heavens!"

People's eyes nearly popped out in shock even though Kapros was just holding it in both hands without throwing it. The sight made him laugh. The already disrupted atmosphere due to his intrusion was completely shattered thanks to this, and the flustered opponents began to shout in confusion. Their concentration seemed to have been broken, and the fireballs they had been preparing all at once started to lose their shape as their images blurred one after another.
