Vol 2 Chapter 47

"Wait! Calm down! Just a moment!"

At that moment, the boss Kapros had been keeping an eye on pushed through the panicking people and stepped forward. For the first time, he could see her up close in detail. The proud-looking eyes visible between her long, flowing hair gave the impression that she was not an opponent to be taken lightly. Judging by the robe she wore, she seemed to be a mage as well.

"It's really Chain Lightning..."

As she reached Kapros, she swallowed a gasp, seemingly at a loss for words as she looked at the Chain Lightning crackling in his hands.

"Who are you? You seem to know that Pale Knights guild master, are you also from Pale Knights?"

She asked, raising her eyes.

"...Pale Knights? Guild master?"

The guild master of the Pale Knights guild. According to what Kion-hyung had said, wasn't that the identity of the Knight of the Demon God quest performer? Kapros looked at Yu-wan in disbelief and asked.

"What's this about?"

Yu-wan frowned and shook his head.

"I don't know. I was just passing by when I was suddenly attacked."

Kapros was relieved by that firm answer, but conversely, the woman's face turned pale.

"Don't lie! There's no way there could be another person in Zagreb wearing black armor from head to toe and using an aura longer than their sword other than Caesar of the Pale Knights!"

Caesar? So that guy's name is Caesar.

"Caesar... Then it's definitely not him. This guy's name is Yu-wan."

Kapros answered, meeting Yu-wan's eyes, and Yu-wan nodded in agreement. At that, the woman stammered with a completely white face.

"That... that can't be..."

"There's probably not just one advanced swordsman in the world, and anyone can choose armor according to their taste. Besides, we haven't been here long. I think it's too cowardly for a group to attack one person without even confirming properly just because two characteristics happened to coincide."

It seemed like this was the first time Kapros had spoken this much to someone he'd just met since starting the game. Ignoring Yu-wan's slightly surprised gaze, he stared expressionlessly at the woman's face. After a moment, she bit her lip and averted her eyes.

"But from our perspective, after searching for Caesar for months, if someone appeared in Zagreb who met both those conditions... we naturally thought it could only be Caesar..."

As Kapros watched, thinking she was just going to keep making excuses, he suddenly felt perplexed when he saw tears full of anger welling up in her eyes.

"...I see. We've been deceived again."

This wasn't something he was used to. Moreover, seeing the tears of someone he'd just met was even more unfamiliar. Unable to understand what she meant by being deceived again, he stood there blankly. Meanwhile, other people started gathering behind the woman to comfort her.

"Don't cry, Lady Kana."

"Guild master..."

"We should have looked into it more... It's our fault."

Kapros and Yu-wan had to stand there like sacks of rice, watching the stream of comforting words pouring out to the woman. They wished someone would explain what this situation was all about.

After receiving comfort for a while, the woman bit her lip hard and shook her head.

"It's my fault. There was a rumor that Caesar had silver hair, but this man has black hair... I made a wrong judgment because I was blinded by revenge. Thinking about it, it was strange that such a cruel person would fight without cutting down a single opponent. Moreover, he wasn't even alone since that hooded person is his companion..."

Then the woman resolutely stepped forward towards them. Just as they tensed up, wondering what she was going to say next, she bowed deeply at a 90-degree angle without hesitation.

"...Guild master!"

"I'm sorry. It's our fault for attacking the wrong person."

Kapros slowly began to organize the situation in his mind.

They seemed to be a group about the size of a guild. The woman in front of them appeared to be that guild's guild master. They had a grudge against Caesar, the Knight of the Demon God quest performer from the Pale Knights guild, and had been chasing him. By chance, they saw Yu-wan, who looked similar to him. And without hesitation, they launched a full-scale attack... Was that it?

"...What are you doing?"

When Kapros turned to look at Yu-wan, who remained unmoved by the woman's apology, Yu-wan made an expression as if to say "What?"

"She's apologizing."

"...Ah."

Only then did Yu-wan make an expression that seemed to say "Is that so?" before lightly bowing his head in return and sheathing his sword, its aura now gone. Kapros's Chain Lightning had long since disappeared as well.

Just as he thought it was all over, the situation changed again as the woman, who had straightened up after receiving Yu-wan's silent acknowledgment, turned sharply towards Kapros with challenging eyes.

"Are you this person's companion?"

When Kapros remained silent in affirmation, she seemed to understand and grabbed his hand with eyes burning as if they would shoot fire.

"And you're a mage who can manifest Chain Lightning with just the activation word, without casting?"

This time, even though he didn't nod, the grip on his hand tightened. At the intimidating gaze, Kapros flinched, and Yu-wan unhesitatingly put his hand on his sword hilt. The people gathered behind the woman also hurriedly began to prepare for another attack. In that tense atmosphere, the woman, who was looking only at Kapros, finally opened her mouth and shouted loudly.

"Ah, actually... I've been so excited I couldn't contain myself! To see a mage of this caliber in front of my eyes!"

With that sparkling gaze that seemed unable to bear the desire to ask questions, all the fighting and sad atmosphere from earlier disappeared, and everyone except Kapros and her suddenly lost strength in their disappointment.

"I'm Arcana, a 4th circle mage. I'm the guild master of 'Magictopia,' a guild centered around mages."

The woman, Arcana, who had finally let go of Kapros's hand after being pressured by the terrifying gazes of her guild members and Yu-wan, introduced herself like that. Looking at that excessively bright smile, Kapros just nodded.

"I'm Kapros. This is Yu-wan."

The guild members who had been fighting fiercely with them until just moments ago all bowed their heads in apology once they realized their mistake, and Yu-wan accepted it. Kapros thought this would conclude the matter, but Arcana asked if they would like to talk for a while at the guild hideout, since they had met like this.
