Vol 2 Chapter 49

"Is there a problem?"

When Kapros asked with a frown, Arcana flinched but quickly changed her expression back to normal and shook her head.

"What? Nothing! No, nothing at all!"

It was a bit suspicious, but Kapros decided to let it go.

"Um, then from now on, can we treat Kapros-nim as someone like our guild's guild master, no, even higher than that?"

"That's not necessary..."

"How can we just wipe our mouths after receiving such help? We can't do that. I wish we could show better gratitude, but our guild doesn't have much... But later...!"

"...Alright. Do as you wish."

Kapros agreed, thinking that if he left it any longer, Arcana's words would go on. Fortunately, her excited voice stopped abruptly when he answered, but that was only to add one more thing.

"Really? Then from now on, please speak comfortably to us! We can't hear honorifics from someone who will be our guild's benefactor and teacher!"

Kapros wanted to refuse that as well, but with other guild members joining in and saying something, he was so overwhelmed that he ended up seeming to accept. Thinking that he wouldn't come to this burdensome place twice after this was over, Kapros stood up.

"Then I'll show you right in front of here, so let's go out."

After everyone had come outside, Kapros cast a few 5th circle spells, slowly imagining them at the smallest size first.

Dust Wind, Stone Edge, Magic Blade, Hold Person.

He decided it would be better not to show Dispel, which was cumbersome to use because it required an opponent using magic against him, and Blink, which he had obtained from Superior. Except for Dust Wind, it felt new to do all of them after such a long time.

"W-Wow."

"Gasp...! Look at that. A perfectly implemented 5th circle..."

The eyes of the guild members surrounding Kapros were filled with astonishment and rapture. He felt quite embarrassed seeing people frantically looking back and forth between the cast magic and himself. Other users would have been amazed too, but these people's reactions seemed more intense, perhaps because they were mages themselves. Among them, the one showing the most admiration was, of course, the 4th circle master Arcana.

Finally, after finishing Hold Person on one of the guild members, Kapros turned around, catching his breath, and cheers erupted from behind.

"My goodness, you really were a 5th circle master!"

"Kapros-nim, thank you!"

"R-Really cool! Awesome!"

Arcana even ran up to greet him.

"Thank you so much."

"No..."

This kind of overflowing admiring gaze was the first... no, it wasn't. It had been a long time since his kendo days. As Kapros awkwardly shook his head, people flocked around him. He sighed and made only one request to the delighted group.

The guild members all nodded when he asked them not to mention today's events on the web or elsewhere.

"Of course! We were so entranced watching that we didn't even think to record a video."

"Now, then!"

Arcana clapped her hands to get everyone's attention.

"Even if we all get crushed again in tomorrow's guild war, let's practice like crazy tonight!"

"Great! Even if the world ends tomorrow, I'm training all night tonight!"

"You think you're the only one? I'll do it first! Move aside!"

Seeing their enthusiastic appearance, Kapros also clenched his fist, feeling the urge to quickly learn Magic Sword Mastery and Superior's remaining spells. Arcana, with slightly teary eyes, bowed to Kapros once more and ushered people away.

"Thank you."

Kapros sighed and waved his hand.

"That's enough of that."

"But still..."

"We'll be going now..."

Before finishing his words, Kapros hesitated for a moment, but that time wasn't very long.

"Practice well."

He couldn't remember how long it had been since he had said such words to his juniors. Encouragement towards someone. It was awkward and embarrassing, but Arcana responded brightly with a radiant smile.

"Yes! I'll definitely see you again later!"

Kapros left their greetings behind and grabbed Yu-wan's arm, heading towards the alley. Only when they had climbed to the top of a building where they could see the Magictopia guild's hideout at a glance after walking for a while did his breathing finally return somewhat to normal. When he turned his head, he saw Yu-wan silently looking at him.

"..."

For a moment, Kapros was startled to realize he had forgotten he had brought Yu-wan along, but soon his mind calmed down. He turned his face forward. The rooftop certainly had a great, open view.

"Kap."

Yu-wan called him. After calling, he just stared intently at Kapros's eyes without speaking, which suddenly made Kapros feel awkward, so he managed to speak first.

"What were you doing these past few days that we couldn't see you?"

"Training."

Yu-wan answered briefly. Flames or electricity could be seen occasionally exploding and shooting up over the Magictopia guild building not far away. Kapros slowly exhaled while watching that. Now he had to think about what to say and how to say it.

"Actually, I had something I wanted to ask you... Although things turned out like this, I'd like you to listen first."

There was no answer, but Kapros knew Yu-wan was listening to him. He began to voice one by one the things that had been floating in his mind.

"You have too many suspicious points. Like in that dungeon where we first met. I probably can't say that the boss monster incident then had nothing to do with you. Not just that, I think you know well that there have been many unclear points continuously."

"..."

"I won't list them all. Explain those things in a way that I can understand."

Eyes that Kapros couldn't read met his own.

Yu-wan seemed surprisingly calm in front of the cold gaze, but it was only when time had passed and complete darkness had fallen that he opened his mouth.
