Vol 2 Chapter 52
"Where is it?"
Tonight in game time was quite tight. It was fortunate that Kran had found out the quest location, but it seemed that the plan to experience the guild war for once would likely end up as just a plan.
"Talant Cave. They say it's a dungeon that acts as a passage to the west from Zagreb in the center. It's not far, right next to the western great basin where the guild war is taking place."
Kran's expression as he spoke, checking Kapros's reaction, looked quite pitiful, as if he was worried that Kapros might not be able to enjoy the guild war because of him. But it wasn't Kran's fault that the date he finished the quest was today. Rather, for Kran, who had accompanied Kapros on his journey without complaint until now, Kapros would have prioritized going together even if there had been something more important than the guild war. In fact, that guild war was the same whether he went or not.
Kapros was about to say they should leave right away, but he hesitated for a moment due to a sudden thought.
"Ah..."
"What?"
"Since Kion-hyung is already there, would it be okay if we just explain the situation and then go to the dungeon?"
"Uh..."
It was obvious that Kion-hyung, who firmly believed Kapros would come to the guild war location, would be incredibly disappointed if Kapros didn't show up without saying anything. Since the basin was on the way, it seemed fine to briefly explain and then go if possible.
'And there's something I want to tell hyung too.'
The reason why hyung's quest had been delayed all this time. After thinking about it carefully, Kapros had realized that he might be able to help. He felt he should let him know about that as soon as possible.
"Of course it's okay!"
Kran nodded vigorously.
"I'll just solve the quest and come back here, so it doesn't matter. Actually, I wanted to see such a large-scale guild war for the first time too."
With that answer and a grin, Kran suddenly felt like an incredibly reliable friend rather than his usual silly self.
"Then we shouldn't delay. Let's go."
Yu-wan went ahead, his black clothes fluttering, and Kran and Kapros quickly followed.
When they came outside, the streets of Zagreb were filled with hot excitement. They went out through the western city gate and headed towards the basin. The location where the guild war was being held wasn't difficult to find.
"There it is!"
The scene that came into view was truly spectacular.
"Wow..."
The crowd filling the basin was enormous. It was simply amazing that all those people belonged to their respective guilds and had come to participate in today's guild war.
People were gathered in a circle around the empty center. There was something flickering in the center, but it wasn't clearly visible from this distance.
Above people's heads, guild emblems along with names in bright red were floating, making it easy to identify which guild they belonged to at a glance. Judging by the consistent number of people participating from each guild, it seemed there was a set limit on the number of participants.
"Amazing. There must be dozens of participating guilds."
Kran said, his eyes sparkling with interest.
"It looks like they're still preparing, so that's good. Let's hurry."
"Hmm..."
Despite the noisy but about-to-burst tension, Kran and Yu-wan went ahead of Kapros without minding. Not to be outdone, Kapros had to withdraw his observing gaze and quicken his steps a bit more.
"Kar! Over here, over here!"
"Hyung."
Kapros saw Kion-hyung waving and calling out to him from afar. As they approached, the Giant guild members who were aligning themselves here and there greeted them with their eyes. Their faces had become somewhat familiar during their stay here, but Kapros hadn't personally spoken with any of them. Palton was nowhere to be seen.
After watching their enthusiasm, Kapros turned to look at hyung. Hyung's face was flushed red with excitement and tension.
"Hello, hyung-nim."
"..."
It was Kran who greeted cheerfully, and Yu-wan who just gave a silent nod.
"What? You guys came too?"
Kion-hyung expressed his welcome in his typical manner. Kapros had told him yesterday that although Yu-wan seemed a bit suspicious, he didn't seem to have bad intentions, but hyung still didn't seem to have completely shaken off his doubts. Still, seeing hyung pat their backs generously, Kapros felt a bit relieved that even if they hadn't become close, the atmosphere wasn't bad.
"Ah, right. That Pal-deung bastard is out front registering now. Can you see?"
Kion-hyung pointed towards the front and spoke without Kapros asking. The object that had been blurry when viewed from above earlier now came into clear view.
It looked like a staff deeply embedded in the ground. Several people could be seen approaching the large crystal ball attached to the upper part, placing their hands on it and doing something. Among them was Palton, who was very noticeable even from afar due to his enormous height.
"What's that?"
"Ah, that? That's the core of this guild war. It's an item called 'Remnants of Recurring Hope'. Before the guild war starts, each guild master has to place their hand on it to register for participation, and during the guild war, the guild that captures it last wins."
Kapros widened his eyes a bit at hyung's words. It was surprising that such an insignificant-looking staff played such an important role.
"But that's just a symbolic item, and it disappears right after the guild war ends. I think it's because the official siege warfare update hasn't been implemented yet. The fighting style is also an infinite battle format where superiority is determined almost entirely by strength, with little need for strategy."
'And when it comes to strength! Aren't we the ones?' Kion-hyung laughed heartily. Ignoring hyung who was absorbed in boasting, Kapros looked around a bit more. However, that too soon ended due to a sudden commotion that arose from a bit far away.
"...nim!"
"Kapros-nim!"
"Wow, Kapros-nim! Please look over here!"
All the people causing the commotion were calling for Kapros. Naturally, the gazes of hyung, Yu-wan, and Kran all turned to him at once.
"...Who are those hangers-on?"
