Chapter 265: Going Home

Above the pasture, after three Anti-Terror Squad helicopters arrived on scene, Su Tianyu and Li Mingsheng were thoroughly rescued.

Armed helicopters and small reconnaissance aircraft had completely different equipment configurations. One was responsible for reconnaissance and searching, while the other was a killing machine specifically built for war and small-scale combat - their attack capabilities were on entirely different levels.

The rotary machine guns combined with aircraft shells devastatingly shattered the SUV convoy below like targets. Following this, Anti-Terror Squad members rappelled down to quickly clear the scene, killing over ten people on the spot and capturing six or seven.

After the Anti-Terror Squad arrived, Su Tianyu no longer needed to risk his life. He immediately rushed to Li Mingsheng's side, asking with concern: "Chief, are you alright? Come, I'll carry you!"

Li Mingsheng said nothing, only heavily patting Su Tianyu's shoulder to signal him to take him to the aircraft.

Su Tianyu was energized at this point, carrying Li Mingsheng on his back while running wildly to the just-landed helicopter.

A squad leader officer saluted Li Mingsheng calling: "Mayor, we received General Squad orders to execute the mission of returning you to the city."

Li Mingsheng was already exhausted, only forcing his spirits to nod at him before being helped into the cabin by Su Tianyu.

After the two boarded, Li Mingsheng took two breaths before ordering: "Take the living prisoners back for your squad commander to handle - we'll go first."

"Yes!"

The officer nodded entering the cabin, waving to call: "According to original plan, return to the city."

The sound of air being cut rose as the helicopter lifted again, heading straight for Dragon City.

On the way, whether from exhaustion or lingering fear, Li Mingsheng didn't say a word or make any calls - he just sat there quietly, turning to look at the just-rising sun in the sky outside the aircraft.

In the rear cabin, Su Tianyu wasn't as profound as Li Mingsheng - he observed the aircraft's movement direction while treating his external wounds with medical supplies given by the squad leader.

During this time, Su Tianyu noticed several details: First, the helicopter's flight direction wasn't toward Dragon City's urban area but the suburbs; Second, the aircraft took detours the whole way while the pilot turned off searchlights, navigation lights and all equipment that could expose their position - they didn't even fly together with the two aircraft that took off behind them.

All these details indicated one point - that Li Mingsheng seemed unsafe even after boarding the aircraft. Jin Maohui's people were still protecting him to the greatest extent possible - the situation in the city was likely still tense.

Sure enough, around 6 AM, the helicopter landed at a training ground in Dragon City's suburbs. After getting off, Su Tianyu scanned the surroundings to see the main building's sign read "Anti-Terror Special Forces Squad Training Center."

Li Mingsheng not immediately returning to the urban area said a lot.

The struggle wasn't over, the killing intent hadn't completely disappeared.

Su Tianyu had just helped Li Mingsheng down by the aircraft when he saw twenty to thirty people walk out from the main building. Most were middle-aged men - some wearing Anti-Terror Force uniforms, others wearing well-fitted suits, cultured and refined.

"Mayor, are you alright?" Jin Maohui was first to come forward.

"Are you injured?!"

"Oh, we were so worried!"

"...!"

A group of people surrounded Li Mingsheng, anxiously inquiring about the situation. Though Li Mingsheng looked disheveled, his expression was relaxed as he waved at them: "It was close, but I still came back. Now that I'm back it's fine - everyone go inside to talk. Come, let's go in and chat!"

The crowd escorted Li Mingsheng into the main building.

After the group went inside, the Anti-Terror Force squad leader immediately said to Su Tianyu: "There are doctors here - let me take you for a medical check first."

"Good, good!" Hearing this, Su Tianyu understood in his heart - the other was hinting that he shouldn't follow the big shots inside to discuss, but should rest outside and avoid suspicion.

After exchanging a few words, the squad leader took Su Tianyu to an empty rest room and arranged for the training base's duty doctor to examine him.

During his examination, Su Tianyu took out his phone and called home again: "Hello, Second Uncle!"

"No problem, knocked them all down - I'm now giving law-abiding citizen testimony..."

Hearing Second Uncle's vigorous voice, Su Tianyu also slowly relaxed.

......

Nearly another hour passed, reaching after 6 AM.

In the large conference room on the second floor of the garrison base's main building, a doctor packed up his equipment, nodding to Li Mingsheng saying: "You have some external injuries but nothing serious - rest for a few days with some IV drips and you'll be fine."

"Thank you for your trouble." Li Mingsheng, lying in a chair with an IV, politely nodded at the doctor.

"You all talk." The doctor smiled, carrying his case and leaving with his assistant.

In the room, over twenty people seated around the conference table all began cursing indignantly after the doctor left.

"Damn it! The bandits had no killing intent, but people in the city got restless," a middle-aged man cursed raising his eyebrows. "Fortunately the mayor wasn't harmed, otherwise we'd be too stifled...!"

"Yes, must counterattack!"

"The Anti-Terror Squad, half the city council members, and police bureau people are all here... let's just take action directly!"

"...!"

At this time, those who could sit in this room and personally see Li Mingsheng were all iron core members of his faction - Jin Maohui wouldn't have called anyone with even slightly suspicious identity, so everyone's emotions were genuine.

For political factions, the highest chief was the spiritual leader of the team - if he fell, the faction basically wouldn't exist anymore.

Li Mingsheng waved his hand and everyone immediately quieted down, then he asked Jin Maohui: "Have the identities of those desperadoes at the pasture been verified?"

"Verified - they're an armed group from the Kasalo region, perhaps with some connection to the Xue family that sells gold bricks," Jin Maohui replied. "I inquired around - can basically confirm this was done by the Republican Party faction and Shanghai faction."

Li Mingsheng was silent for a moment before looking up to ask: "How's the situation with the Chi Army?"

"The Chi Army was prepared in advance and also arranged receiving personnel, but they still suffered heavy casualties in the firefight. According to data I just received, over forty were killed on the spot," Jin Maohui replied.

After a long silence, Li Mingsheng's gaze began regaining its spirit as he calmly instructed: "Have the city council contact the Propaganda Department to hold a press conference around 1:30 PM tomorrow. During this time, you can privately communicate, appropriately letting out news that I've broken free."

"Yes!" A middle-aged man nodded.

"Jin Maohui, call the airport side, tell them that due to recent frequent extremist incidents in Dragon City, you've received city government orders to begin supervising both military and civilian airports starting now."

"Yes!" Jin Maohui nodded.

"...!" Li Mingsheng sat in the long chair, beginning to lay out his counterattack plan.

......

In Dragon City's urban area.

Secretary-General Lu got out of his car, walking quickly toward the small command center while holding his phone saying: "Damn it, at least tell me if the person is dead or alive! What kind of answer is 'missing', huh?!"
