Chapter 137
19
"Explain."
Keith Knight Pitman glared at Greyson sitting across from him, grinding his teeth.
"Explain this article."
The grand mansion where Greyson lived was in a so-called complex where only the wealthy lived, so the entrance was thoroughly blocked from entry. Thanks to this, the gathered reporters were blocked at the management office and wandering around in confusion, unable to even get close to the top where Greyson lived. Because of this, normal visitors were also having trouble entering, but for Keith to follow procedures like others, stand in line enduring boring time, present identification to the management office, and get the owner's permission to pass through was absolutely impossible.
Due to the visitor who had barged in early in the morning by helicopter, Greyson greeted him with a face that hadn't fully shaken off sleep, yawning. Keith, who had pushed Greyson aside and stormed into the house, stood in the middle of the hall and looked around.
"Where is that bastard?"
At the blunt question, Greyson scratched the back of his head and yawned again. Of course, Keith immediately noticed that this was a deliberately performed action.
"You...!"
"Second floor."
As Keith hesitated while about to shout, Greyson pointed upward with his second finger and said.
"Wait in the reception room on the second floor, I'll be there soon."
Leaving Keith, whose insides were boiling, behind, Greyson whistled and went up to the second floor first. And while Keith was cooling his anger in the reception room, he brewed coffee in the snack room and brought it. And now they were sitting facing each other like this.
Keith ground his teeth without even looking at the triple shot espresso that Greyson had bothered to make.
"Spencer asked us if we're getting divorced."
Spencer was Keith and Yeonwoo's first child. At the roughly spat words, Greyson made a surprised expression. What's with this guy, did he recognize the seriousness of the situation? As Keith hesitated, he soon continued.
"As expected, you two weren't meant for each other."
At the sight of him sighing and even shaking his head, Keith's face immediately turned menacing. But Greyson paid no attention and brought his coffee to his mouth, unusually offering advice.
"If it's about alimony, you should go see Nathaniel, Keith. He'll make sure you don't lose a single penny. The legal fees might be a bit expensive, but it's better than giving up half your assets..."
"I'm not getting divorced. Damn it, Yeonwoo and I will never break up!"
Keith couldn't control his temper and shouted. His clenched fist turned white at the knuckles, but Greyson's reaction remained calm.
"I don't know what Yeonwoo's thoughts might be."
Veins bulged on Keith's neck. Even as gold mixed with his deep purple eyes, Greyson continued nonchalantly.
"If you've lived this long, Yeonwoo has endured for a long time too. You acknowledge it yourself, that just putting up with your temper shows how much Yeonwoo loves you."
I should have brought a gun.
If Yeonwoo had been here, he might have slapped Greyson's cheek. Usually Yeonwoo was gentle, but he had the personality to act when necessary.
Just as he was imagining Yeonwoo slapping Greyson's cheek with all his might, Greyson added.
"Seeing that Yeonwoo's heart has cooled, you must have really done something. You should have controlled your temper moderately."
I really should have shot him.
Just as he was thinking about calling Whitaker, the head of his security team, to bring a gun up here, the bell rang and when he checked, it was a call from Yeonwoo. His face, which had been full of anger, softened somewhat.
"It's me, Yeonwoo."
- Keith.
As soon as he spoke, Yeonwoo's voice flowed from the other end. He continued in a worried voice.
- Whatever Mr. Miller says, let it go in one ear and out the other. That's just how he is. Don't get too angry... okay?
As if he had seen the current situation right before his eyes, Yeonwoo urged him. As if he was worried that Keith might kill someone. Since he had been on the verge of doing just that, Keith didn't say much. Instead, he just let out a frustrated sigh and swept his forehead with one hand. Actually, Yeonwoo had said to just ignore it and not respond at all. Since it was gossip anyway and this kind of rumor wasn't the first or second time, it would pass this time too.
But when he heard about divorce from Spencer, what little patience he had was completely exhausted. Whether he grabbed Greyson by the collar or punched Dane Striker in the face, he had to do something or he couldn't stand it.
Knowing his temperament well, Yeonwoo had no choice but to let him go while wearing a worried expression the whole time. Even in this situation, there was no doubt about his concern for Keith. When he loved Keith this much, what? Divorce? This damn bastard...
- Keith, it's okay to be angry, but don't use violence, okay? Think of me and the children.
"...I know."
Keith barely spat out one word while struggling to suppress his rising anger. Yeonwoo spoke affectionately as usual.
- Yes, I think you'll do well. Come quickly, the children want to see you. I'm also waiting to have breakfast with you.
Hearing those words, his anger instantly subsided. Of course, it hadn't completely calmed down, but some rationality returned.
"I love you, Keith."
At Yeonwoo's last words, Keith returned the same words.
"I love you, Yeonwoo."
After hanging up the phone, his head was coldly cooled as usual. After letting out another breath with a "whew," Keith warned.
"Don't involve Yeonwoo and me in your private life anymore, understand? If this happens again, I'll sue you."
"I'm not the one who published the article?"
To Keith, who was getting up from his seat, Greyson asked as if he felt wronged. While buttoning his suit jacket, Keith glared at him with a frightening gaze.
"Is that trashy tabloid still safe right now?"
It meant he had already taken care of it. After leaving his final warning, Keith left the reception room. As soon as he got on the helicopter, the heavy aircraft soon took off with a loud noise.
As he came out to the balcony and looked up at the helicopter that was causing a commotion and flying away, Greyson suddenly felt a strange feeling. His face immediately brightened as he raised his head. Dane was leaning against the balcony railing of his room, looking down at Greyson.
To Greyson, who was happily waving both arms, Dane lightly waved just one hand and said with an indifferent face.
"Let's talk."
The moment Greyson's eyes sparkled, Dane added.
"While eating breakfast, in the snack room."
The light immediately disappeared from his eyes. Since he didn't want to hear what he was imagining, Dane just silently moved away from the railing and went into his room.
* * *
"The chief gave us vacation."
"Vacation? Suddenly?"
Greyson, who had preciously received the plate containing the breakfast Dane had made, asked without taking his eyes off the plate. Perfect fried eggs, lightly cooked bacon, and bread - it was perfect, and on top of that, today Dane had even provided salad. The reason was that the vegetables in the refrigerator were on the verge of spoiling. Without mentioning that he had started to make sandwiches but stopped, he put down the bowl containing vegetables on the bar table and began eating.
"Reporters are camping out in front of the fire station. It should die down in about a week, so don't even go near the fire station during that time."
"Then we're on our honeymoon."
"Instead, it's an order to go do volunteer work."
At Dane's indifferent words, Greyson stopped moving while holding bread. Dane continued.
"There are several institutions that have partnerships with the fire station. Go there to do fire inspections, provide education, play with kids... Fuck!"
Dane, who had been speaking, suddenly cursed and struck the bar table with his fist.
How did it come to this?
Dane couldn't understand it at all. His life had been satisfactory until now. Living quietly, inconspicuously, maintaining an ordinary life, earning adequate money, having plenty of sex, and living peacefully.
What the hell was this situation all of a sudden?
