Chapter 61 A Misunderstanding at the Pharmacy

At this point in time, a man dressed in a sharp suit was at a nearby food stand, taking out his mobile phone from his pocket.

"Miss, I spotted Second Miss on East Street with an unfamiliar man. Hmm, okay, I understand," he hung up the phone, seemingly unaffected and continued eating his snack.

Unaware that he and Su Ji had been spotted, Qin Chao was leisurely savoring his lamb chop. It was then he truly understood. In this world, sometimes relentless compromise couldn't solve anything. It might be better to fight fire with fire until your adversaries feared you.

Of course, without strength, all of this was merely talk.

"Boss, bring... bring six more beers!" Su Ji, a bit tipsy, waved her hand, calling out to the owner.

"Stop drinking, Teacher Su, you've already had quite a lot," Qin Chao regretted a bit. He hadn't expected that this young lady Su Ji would be such a drinker, and her alcohol tolerance was rather weak.

"No, no way, today I must... I must challenge you!" So, Su Ji wanted to compete with Qin Chao in drinking. Qin Chao felt helpless; was the Buddhist method unable to assist in sobering up?

"Brother, do you still want that drink?" the owner stood there, nervously asking.

"No more, I can't drink any more, thank you," Qin Chao politely declined.

Just at that moment, four beaten-up vans came around the corner from another street, parking at the head of the snack street. Then, the squeaking sound of doors being flung open echoed through the air as more than twenty ruffians from the underworld jumped out. Some held machetes, others carried iron rods, all emitting an air of ferocity as they slowly gathered towards Qin Chao.

The bystanders were scared off immediately, but the thugs didn't stop them. Their target was not the crowd; they were here solely for Qin Chao.

"They've come to get us..." the owner was scared to the point of hiding under his stand, not daring to raise his head.

"Boss, don't hide. Grill me two more skewers of lamb chops, you grill them really well," said Qin Chao after finishing his chop.

"Brother, you... you gotta spare me. I can't afford to offend these people."

"Do your business, they'll be gone in a bit," Qin Chao gestured with his hand, "Don't worry, I'll pay."

Without a choice, the owner rose to his feet, gingerly placed two lamb skewers on the grill, and kept his head low. He only dared to sneak a peek through the corners of his eyes.

"Brother Long, that's the guy who beat up Xiao Qiang!" Among the thugs, a lackey pointed at Qin Chao, who was enjoying his meal, and reported to their leader.

"Damn it, after beating my brother, you dare to sit here eating skewers!"

The one they called Brother Long roared in anger. The voice seemed familiar to Qin Chao, so, with a skewer between his teeth, he turned around.

Well, who else if it was not Zhao Long, decked out in a black mink coat.

"Oh, isn't this Boss Zhao," Qin Chao grinned, "What brings you here? Got time to enjoy some skewers?"

Zhao Long had been smoking a cigarette. On seeing Qin Chao, he was so taken aback that the cigarette fell out of his mouth.

"Brother Long, what's wrong with you?" One of the lackeys, noticing something amiss with the normally boisterous and domineering Brother Long, quickly asked. "Speak up, Brother Long. We can take this kid down for you."

"Right, right…" Zhao Long suddenly came to his senses. He had brought over twenty henchmen with him; surely, they could handle this guy, couldn't they? Not to mention that a dozen of them were gripping shiny cleavers that gave him an extra sense of security.

The saying rang true, after all: no matter how good one's martial arts were, they were still vulnerable to the blade!

"Damn it, I let you off at the Anthony Hotel earlier, and you have the audacity to provoke me again," Zhao Long gritted his teeth and said menacingly. "Kid, you can regret it in hell this time. Boys, kill him, and bring that girl beside him to my car. I'll enjoy her company first, and then we'll all share the fun! Hahaha!"

With that, he quietly stepped back.

"Don't worry, Boss!" Those men, entranced by Su Ji's beauty, were momentarily distracted. Zhao Long's words only inflamed their primal instincts.

"I don't have plans to go to hell just yet…" Qin Chao shook his head. Just then, one of the thugs lunged at him like a vanguard, brandishing an ASP baton and aiming for Qin Chao's head.

If it were to land a hit, a concussion would be the least of his worries. The baton could easily shatter bricks and concrete, let alone a human skull.

But would Qin Chao let him succeed?

"Nice baton, mind if I borrow it?" Qin Chao suddenly reached out, grabbing the incoming baton mid-strike. The thug was taken aback as the baton was halted, the impact making him feel as if he had struck a steel plate.

Simultaneously, Qin Chao launched a kick into his torso. The man flew backward, screaming as he crashed into a nearby minivan.

The gang was momentarily shocked but their numerical superiority and greed for Su Ji propelled them to surround Qin Chao.

Qin Chao didn't hold back. The baton in his hand was like a tiger with wings, moving swiftly among the thugs. Every now and then, he would strike at their joints, causing them to fall and writhing in pain.

One thug with a cleaver tried to stab Qin Chao from behind, aiming for his lower back.

The cleaver was designed to cause fatal damage. Once it was inside and then pulled out, it could easily end Qin Chao's life. It was clear that these thugs had become desperate.

Without turning his head, Qin Chao launched a counter kick, and the man flew backward, crashing into a nearby barbecue stand. The red-hot charcoal fell on him, causing him to scream in agony.

In less than two minutes, all twenty of Zhao Long's henchmen were writhing in pain on the ground, none of them able to get up.

Qin Chao played with the ASP baton in his hand, finding it quite impressive. It even bore the brand name "War Wolf". Considering it wasn't classified as a controlled knife, he decided to keep it.

"Is the lamb ready?" Qin Chao asked, turning back.

"Yes, yes it is..." The shopkeeper, still stunned, hastily handed over the somewhat undercooked lamb.

"It's still bloody," Qin Chao commented, taking a bite and leaving some fresh blood around his mouth. "But it's okay, it's quite tasty."

Looking at Zhao Long, who was shaking and leaning against his minivan, Qin Chao invited, "Boss Zhao, why not join me for a drink?" He patted the chair next to him, speaking in a playful tone.

"No, no, it was all a misunderstanding. Whenever you're free, let me, let me treat you and apologize," Zhao Long stuttered. The sight of his fallen henchmen was too much for him.

Once upon a time, Zhao Long was a formidable figure, hacking his way through seven streets. But even at his bravest, he was merely a man. The person standing before him now was nothing short of a monster in human skin!

Moreover, time had eroded Zhao Long's fierceness. His wife, children, and property made him cherish his life.

"Well then, I won't keep you, Boss Zhao." Qin Chao pretended to pat his pockets. "Oh no, I forgot my money. What do I do now?"

"I'll pay, I'll pay!" Zhao Long trembled as he approached, handing the shopkeeper two hundred yuan before looking pitifully at Qin Chao. "Young man, can we, can we forget this misunderstanding?"

"Heh…" Qin Chao chuckled coldly, making Zhao Long flinch. "Boss Zhao, we'll consider today's incident settled. But in the future, watch who you mess with. Some people are not to be trifled with."

With that, he helped the heavily intoxicated Su Ji onto the bicycle seat and pushed the bike away, not noticing the man in a suit who had been observing him from a distance and started following him discreetly.

"Alcohol... I want more alcohol..." Su Ji was not behaving herself on the bike, nearly falling off multiple times, only to be steadied by Qin Chao's quick reflexes.

"You shouldn't have drunk so much if you can't handle your liquor," Qin Chao said, looking at Su Ji's drunken state. He decided to stop by a nearby pharmacy to buy something to sober her up.

With this thought, Qin Chao parked his bike and helped the dazed Su Ji towards the pharmacy.

Inside, there were two drowsy sales clerks dozing in their chairs.

Qin Chao found it amusing. If someone asked for an aphrodisiac and they handed over contraceptives, it would be a farce.

Thinking about this, he called out absentmindedly, "Give me a box of contraceptives!" The moment he spoke, he wanted to slap himself. His mouth was faster than his brain; he had meant to ask for a hangover remedy, not contraceptives.

Suddenly, the two clerks woke up from their drowsiness, giving Qin Chao a puzzled look.

"Contraceptives? How about Yu Ting (Note: levonorgestrel tablets)?" A mocking voice rang out from behind Qin Chao, startling him.

He turned around to find a woman who bore a striking resemblance to Su Ji, standing there coldly with her arms crossed, looking at him through her glasses.

"Director, Director Su?"

"Oh, so you still remember me?" Su Fei's voice was colder than ice. Next to her stood a man in a suit, over one-eighty tall, with a dignified appearance.

The man carried an unusual aura, causing Qin Chao to give him an extra glance. The man, in return, looked back at Qin Chao, his gaze filled with disdain.

"So, where are you planning to take my little sister with those contraceptives?" Su Fei asked, icily. "Qin Chao, I never thought you were this kind of person."

"I'm sorry, I meant to ask for a hangover cure, it was a mistake."

"How amusing, do you think I'll believe that?"

"Believe it or not, it's up to you." Had it been the Qin Chao of the past, he would have insisted on explaining. But not now, his tone was also gradually turning colder.

Su Fei had expected Qin Chao to explain, but instead, he dismissed her with a single sentence. The words she had prepared got stuck in her throat. And the increasingly cold look in his eyes made her uncomfortable.

"Sister?" At this moment, Su Ji was a bit sober. Leaning on Qin Chao, she lifted her head and was taken aback when she saw the stern-faced Su Fei.
