Chapter 81

It wasn't wrong. But questions still remained.

"Then why did you deliberately pretend to be a Beta until now?"

This time too, Dane answered without hesitation.

"I did it because it gets bothersome if I say I'm an Omega. There was no other intention."

It was clear that this wasn't a lie. He had been saying "I hate bothersome things" until his mouth wore out before.

"If I hadn't known your phenotype, would you have said the same thing?"

Dane snickered.

"No, I would have sent you away first."

Greyson wanted to ask why he didn't want to reveal it to him, but he didn't. Because he already knew the answer.

Because I bother him the most...

The thought that came to mind made his mood even worse.

Meanwhile, Dane hadn't been feeling well since after she left. To be precise, since he had released pheromones to her. He hadn't known because he had never used his back before, but since his awakening, he felt uncomfortable every time he used pheromones.

Awakening.

Omegas cannot smell their own pheromone scent until they have relations. After using their back for the first time, they come to know. Their pheromones that seduce Alphas.

He never thought it would be this embarrassing and uncomfortable. The fact that he had never paid attention to until now, thinking he would never use his back in his lifetime, was suddenly becoming a reality like this.

Those extreme Alpha bastards spray pheromones around them all the time and still walk around just fine...

Dane clicked his tongue inwardly. They were indeed shameless bastards.

"Hey."

Dane called Greyson again. When he reluctantly turned his gaze, Dane pointed with his thumb in the direction where Darling was and said.

"You should go now. I need to start preparing dinner soon."

It meant take pictures and get out. Of course, Greyson caught the meaning, but he had no intention of backing down easily.

"I still have something I'm curious about."

"Make it quick."

Dane responded to him, though he seemed annoyed. This might be the last chance. Greyson vaguely felt certain that this would be the only opportunity to have such a conversation.

"What would have happened if you were a Beta, in this situation?"

To this meaningless hypothesis, Dane answered nonchalantly.

"Not much would have changed. If this had been of any use, I would have had surgery long ago."

"What?"

To the momentarily confused Greyson, Dane still looked at him with an indifferent expression.

"What's the point of having it when I'm not going to have children anyway? It would be much more convenient to have surgery, and these awkward situations wouldn't happen either."

"...Would you really go that far?"

Greyson muttered in bewilderment. But Dane retorted as if it were obvious.

"Miller, I still use condoms. Even though my semen is completely useless, I do that bothersome thing, so do you think I could just fool around carelessly with only condoms in a situation where a child might be conceived?"

Dane pushed Greyson away by pressing his chest with his second finger and sneered.

"You extreme Alpha bastards can control fertilization, so you probably never even thought about such things."

His smirking face was full of irritation. This kind of talk should stop now. Greyson could clearly read Dane's thoughts. He should leave this place now. Without any more questions, after pretending to take a few pictures of Darling, with a simple greeting, he should leave this house.

The sequence of actions was already determined. He just needed to move his body accordingly, but...

Greyson couldn't do that.

"What would you do if you had a child?"

"What?"

Dane asked back at the sudden question. There was still a chance. He could just turn around and leave, saying it was nothing.

But he wanted to know. Why did this man show such intense aversion, shuddering at the fact of having his own child?

"I'm asking what you would do if you had a child between you and me."

"That won't happen. Why are you making such an assumption? You saw me take the medicine."

Dane's attitude was as firm as could be. He was showing with his entire body that having this conversation was extremely unpleasant, but Greyson stubbornly continued the conversation.

"There's no guarantee that medicine is certain."

"What?"

"You said it's not officially approved, right? Then whether the effect is certain is something we'll have to wait and see."

Dane's brow furrowed even more. He opened his mouth as if to say something, then eventually closed his eyes and tilted his head back.

"Haa."

After letting out a deep sigh, Dane opened his mouth in a softened tone, as if tired.

"Alright, I'll go to the hospital and check. You just want me to confirm to you that there's no child, right?"

He's probably doing this because he's afraid something bothersome might happen. Dane thought. He couldn't think of any other reason why Greyson was being so persistent. This man, despite his talk of destiny, had lived as promiscuously as Dane, so he would want to avoid any responsibility.

"If you were pregnant, I would have rights too."

Dane's thoughts were abruptly cut off by the unexpected statement. Dane lowered his gaze from the ceiling and looked at Greyson. A cold anger seeped into Dane's eyes.

"What rights?"

Dane asked back with narrowed eyes. His voice gradually became rougher.

"Rights? What rights do you have! This is my body, what nonsense are you spouting? Do you think you're something because we slept together once? Don't be ridiculous!"

Greyson tried to say more, but Dane was faster. He grabbed Greyson's collar without warning and spat out roughly.

"How many times do I have to say it for you to understand? I'm not pregnant. Even if I were, I'd say I wasn't, understand? Fuck, stop bothering me and get out!"

"Just because you yell at me and get angry doesn't make what happened between us disappear."

"What about us? We slept together? So what?"

Dane shouted as if he would hit him right away. Greyson wanted to tell him to calm down, but he knew well that those words would only add fuel to the fire. So instead, he tried to persuade him as calmly as possible.

"It was your first time, so."

It wasn't a good approach, but.

"So? Are you saying you'll take responsibility?"

Dane let out a hollow laugh as if he found it absurd. This crazy bastard, he ground his teeth, cursing inwardly.

"Greyson Miller."

He called his name as if spitting it out.

"Do you know why I haven't used my back until now?"

At the sudden question, Greyson hesitated, and Dane glared at him with a fearsome gaze and provided the answer.

"For fear of accidentally having a child."

To the surprised Greyson, he rapidly poured out words.

"I have no intention of having children. I will never, ever have a child with anyone, for my entire life. And what? Rights? What rights to a child that doesn't even exist?"

"Dane."

"Shut up!"

Greyson tried to say something more, but Dane shouted to stop him.

"Why are you being so clingy in such an old-fashioned way? Didn't you say you don't sleep with someone you've already slept with?"

At those words, Greyson turned pale as if he had received a shock. The sight of him reacting like a normal person despite his nature made Dane even more disgusted. He's probably just imitating this too.

"Get out, right now. Get out of my house!"

"Wait a moment."

Greyson tried to say something more, but Dane wouldn't listen. Grabbing him by the collar and dragging him to the entrance, Dane pushed Greyson out forcefully as soon as he opened the door. In front of Greyson, who almost fell over staggering, he immediately closed the door with a bang. Soon after, the sound of locks clicking was heard.

"...Ha."

Greyson ran his fingers through his hair and let out a hollow sigh. Looking at himself, he felt utterly pathetic. To think he was standing blankly in front of the entrance, kicked out by the homeowner.

He was wearing a slipper on one foot, but the other foot didn't even have that. After confirming with his eyes that his foot in a black sock was touching the ground, Greyson let out another irritated sigh, then took off the remaining slipper, threw it away, and put on his dress shoes that he had neatly placed to one side.

"Damn it."

Soon after, he cursed and kicked Dane's front door hard with a bang.

And a few minutes later, Dane could see Greyson's car leaving through the living room window.
