Chapter 69 Bringing Su Fei Home

Both men brandished their daggers, inching slowly toward Qin Chao and Su Fei. Su Fei, who had only ever seen such displays on television, trembled all over, hiding behind Qin Chao.

"Swoosh!" One assassin's figure flashed suddenly, arriving in front of Qin Chao in an instant, swinging his dagger toward his throat.

This strike was quick and ruthless, akin to a scorpion's tail flicking, causing Qin Chao to feel a chill on his neck as though a needle had pricked him.

"Crack!" However, Qin Chao's response was swift as he reached out and grabbed the assassin's wrist, and with a swift kick, sent the man flying into a van nearby.

Taking advantage of the moment, the other assassin attacked from behind, his dagger aimed at Su Fei.

But Qin Chao quickly turned around, pulled Su Fei into his arms, and with a spinning kick, sent the assassin's dagger flying high into the air, where it lodged itself into the wall with a clang.

The surprised assassin was also kicked back a few steps, staring at Qin Chao with amazement.

"Who are you?" Su Fei, her face flushed as she was cradled in Qin Chao's arms, managed to question the two attackers.

But the two remained silent, merely sharing a glance before signaling each other.

Then, they both sheathed their daggers, and each pulled a PPK pistol from their waist, aiming their dark muzzles at the pair.

Su Fei was dumbstruck. She hadn't expected the men to possess such heavy weaponry. Clearly, they were professional killers.

However, Qin Chao was quick to react. Having been shot by Luo Hao's type 54 pistol before, he was particularly sensitive to such weapons. The moment they brandished their guns, he quickly ducked, pulling Su Fei behind a nearby SUV.

"Bang!" One of the assassins fired, shattering the SUV's window. Su Fei screamed, but Qin Chao held her close, shards of glass raining down on him.

"Don't be afraid, I'll get us out of here," Qin Chao whispered into Su Fei's ear.

True to her strong-willed nature, Su Fei quickly calmed down, her gaze lingering on Qin Chao's resolute face.

Qin Chao took a deep breath. He was in a focused state, possessing a power of intent, he was certain he could escape the assassins' attacks.

The assassins moved silently, but not silently enough for Qin Chao. He honed his focus, so much so that he could hear their breathing.

The assassins, each coming from a different direction, approached the SUV.

As they drew closer, Qin Chao suddenly stood up and with a powerful kick, slammed into the SUV.

With a loud crash, the vehicle shot sideways, hitting one of the assassins while startling the other.

Without wasting a second, Qin Chao seized the opportunity and sprinted out of the underground parking lot. The remaining assassin fired a few shots after him, but they only struck the cars that Qin Chao had used as cover.

"They're coming!" Su Fei cried out in alarm as car headlights illuminated the parking lot.

"Don't worry, they won't catch us," Qin Chao assured her. He had reached the area where bicycles were parked. With a swift movement, he broke the bike lock and perched Su Fei onto the bike's crossbar.

"Things may get dangerous behind us, so Director Su, I'm afraid you'll have to sit at the front." Qin Chao straddled his Forever 28 bike and with a jolt, sent a shower of sparks flying from the back tire. Su Fei felt a hard pull and was abruptly pulled into Qin Chao's arms.

Before she knew it, they were speeding away on the bike. The assassin’s car, a black Fukang in hot pursuit crashed through the rising and falling road barrier at the campus gate, and with a roar, chased them out of the campus.

"Bang! Bang! Bang!" An assassin popped his head out of the car and fired several shots at Qin Chao. However, given the speed of their escape, his aim was off, and the shots hit elsewhere.

Qin Chao pedaled furiously, and a drizzle began to fall from the sky. With the speed they were going, the rain felt like icy pinpricks on his skin.

Su Fei was faring no better, her lips were tightly drawn and had taken on a purplish hue.

"Hang on!" Qin Chao abruptly turned the bike, charging into the nearby farmland. The recent rain had made the field muddy, but it was no impediment to the Forever 28 that had been refined into a magical tool. The bike sailed across the uneven terrain as if it was on flat ground, deftly weaving through the field.

The black Fukang followed, but its performance was not nearly as impressive. The car struggled in the muddy field, its speed drastically reduced.

Seeing the bike steadily pulling away, the driver assassin finally gave up the pursuit. He slammed his hand onto the steering wheel in frustration.

"Damn, we must be cursed today."

"Report to the higher-ups. The target has an expert beyond our level; we need to change strategy," the other assassin calmly stated, as if in his eyes, the two people were already dead.

"No one escapes the Skull's assassination, absolutely no one."

The Fukang, like a black beast, restarted and slowly drove towards the main road.

Meanwhile, Qin Chao, on his bike, took a shortcut through the field and quickly entered the city. Here, even if there were more assassins, they wouldn't dare to shoot so openly.

"Not at all, this place is very nice," Su Fei surprised him by not showing any signs of disdain. Instead, her eyes gleamed with a comfortable serenity. Pointing to a red, single-seater couch, she asked, "May I sit here?"

"Of course, please make yourself at home," Qin Chao said quickly.

"Please don't call me Director Su here." Su Fei revealed a rare smile to Qin Chao, "Just call me Su Fei."

Her smile caught Qin Chao off guard. Su Ji's smile was warm to him, but Su Fei's was stunning!

"Ah, okay, Su...Su Fei, please take a seat. I need to step out for a bit," Qin Chao removed his security uniform and picked up a black leather jacket from the wall.

"Where...where are you going?" The moment Su Fei heard Qin Chao was leaving, she became anxious and quickly asked.

"I'm going to take care of those two assassins," Qin Chao grinned at Su Fei, leaving her stunned in return.

"No, that's too dangerous!" Su Fei quickly rose from her seat and grabbed Qin Chao's sleeve, looking as vulnerable as a little girl. "Let the police handle this. We just need to stay safe."

"Don't worry, to them, I'm the bigger threat." Qin Chao's mischievous grin made Su Fei's heart race.

She seemed to zone out for a moment, her memory floating back to ten years ago. She was just a little girl then, constantly tugging at her brother's sleeve and following him around.
