Chapter 301 Seafood Invitation
An Qing felt a peculiar sensation rising within her. Her relationship with Qin Chao did not seem to be particularly close. They had only known each other for a mere few hours. Yet, he was willing to put down his gun for her safety. An Qing was not foolish; she knew that when Qin Chao laid down his weapon, it signified surrender. And with Huang Hu, the cunning and ruthless man behind her, Qin Chao's disarmament meant that he could be killed at any moment.
"I've put down my gun. Do not harm the hostage," said Qin Chao, raising his hands to show he was no threat.
"Stay away from me!" Huang Hu was crafty and noticed that there was something unusual about Qin Chao's movements. He yelled, "Move to the door!"
Huang Hu held a hostage, so whatever he said, Qin Chao obeyed. Huang Hu was no ordinary man; even lying on the ground, he could still use his gun to kill An Qing. Therefore, Qin Chao dared not act rashly, using his psychic powers to push Huang Hu away.
Moreover, Huang Hu was cunning, hiding his head behind An Qing, leaving Qin Chao no opportunity to directly choke him.
"Bang!" Seeing Qin Chao leaning against the door, a murderous glint flashed in Huang Hu's eyes. He suddenly raised his gun and fired a shot at Qin Chao.
"Clang!" Huang Hu was dumbfounded. The bullet struck Qin Chao's forehead, but instead of creating a bloody hole and leaving him lying in a pool of blood as Huang Hu had imagined, the situation took an unexpected turn. Qin Chao reached out with one hand, seemingly grabbing the bullet out of thin air before it could reach his forehead.
Everyone in the carriage gasped in astonishment. What kind of person could catch a bullet barehanded?
Huang Hu's eyes widened as he stared intently at Qin Chao's palm. Qin Chao smirked wickedly, as if deliberately showing off to Huang Hu. He slowly extended his hand and gradually unfolded his palm.
Huang Hu's eyes nearly popped out of their sockets as he saw an orange-yellow bullet gradually reveal itself in Qin Chao's palm.
"Bang!" The moment the bullet appeared, Huang Hu's right eye was pierced by another bullet, and he collapsed limply to the floor. Just as Qin Chao had unfolded his hand to distract Huang Hu, the latter fell for the ruse, and Qin Chao launched the bullet from his hand.
The force with which Qin Chao propelled the bullet was more terrifying than if it had been fired from a gun. The bullet obliterated Huang Hu's eye and shattered his skull.
The bandit who had just taken control of the train now lay on the ground, his head no longer intact. Blood and brain matter covered the floor. The people around cried out in shock, while Qin Chao, without any hesitation, continued to charge into the carriages ahead.
There were still two bandits at the front of the train; if they weren't subdued, everyone on the train would be in danger. Just as Qin Chao was about to step through the train door, a massive explosion suddenly rang out. A violent shockwave came hurtling towards him. Hastily, Qin Chao opened his body, activating the Diamond Sutra. He stood like a human wall, shielding the carriage.
"Boom!"
The train violently shook, veering off the tracks and plowing into the ground beside it. The front of the train was blasted away, detached from the rest of the carriages. With a thunderous crash, it landed on the ground nearby.
Everyone was dumbstruck once again.
The train had lost its head, but it continued to move forward due to inertia. The entire train, like a giant green serpent, hurtled towards the foot of the nearest mountain.
"We... we're all doomed now…"
The conductor, who had just heaved a sigh of relief, was now pale as a sheet. The full force of the train's acceleration was unstoppable. With only a gaping hole left in the front of the carriage, everyone watched helplessly as the train barreled towards the mountain foot. The specter of death loomed before them.
"I... I don't want to die, Mom…"
"Damn it! Trying to play the hero, and now we're all going to die because of you!"
"Exactly! If you had just let the hostages go, we wouldn't be facing death now!"
In that instant, everyone's resentment was directed at Qin Chao and Ai Xiaoxue. To them, if the government had simply agreed to Huang Hu's terms and released Huang Long, they wouldn't be facing this crisis.
"No one will die," Qin Chao said coldly, his eyes shifting.
Before the astonished onlookers, he suddenly leaped out of the damaged carriage and grabbed onto the makeshift train head. The entire train's acceleration was incredibly fierce. As Qin Chao held onto the train head, he felt as if his body was being pulled by an ancient, primordial beast, racing unstoppably forward.
"Riding the wind with the sword, soaring into the sky. Wind-riding Sword!" Qin Chao summoned the Evil King Sword and stepped on it. At the same time, he pulled the train head to the side.
He wasn't a superhero; he couldn't stop an entire train by himself. Moreover, with so many carriages, even if he stopped the first few, the others would still be in disarray. Instead, he decided to guide the train head to the side.
His internal energy was swiftly activated, and his demonic core spun wildly. Ever since Qin Chao entered the Divine Power stage, his Golden Core had formed, and his demonic core became increasingly clear.
The demonic core resembled a black eggshell, enveloping his Golden Core. Now, the demonic core drove the Golden Core to spin rapidly. The spiritual energy of the heavens and earth was drawn in by the demonic core, providing Qin Chao's body with ample replenishment. Without the demonic core, even if he was at the Divine Power stage, it would be impossible for Qin Chao to control an entire train. Destroying a train, however, would be feasible.
Everyone was astounded as if they were witnessing a myth. As the train was about to crash into the foot of the mountain, it astonishingly veered to the other side. It was as if Qin Chao was driving the train, the giant green serpent thundering across the ground, swiftly approaching the tracks.
"Bang!" The train trembled violently and returned to the rails.
Once on the tracks, it was much easier for Qin Chao to control. Nevertheless, he put away the Wind-riding Sword and jumped back into the carriage.
"Is there a train station nearby?" Qin Chao, covered in dust, asked the conductor, whose face was a mix of shock and awe.
"Yes, about... about two thousand meters ahead, there's a small train station," replied the conductor, who had worked on this train for many years and had a deep memory of the route.
Qin Chao nodded. "Inform the station to send a locomotive to pull us."
He did not want everyone to know how extraordinary he was. He spoke to the people in the carriage, "I hope you will not speak of my actions. Otherwise, I will not spare you, even at the ends of the earth."
As Qin Chao spoke, he employed the power of his demonic eye. Everyone's hearts raced uncontrollably, and they nodded in agreement.
This was the difference between cultivators of the demonic path and the righteous path. Righteous cultivators would not reveal their magical abilities in front of mortals and, if they did, would ask them not to divulge it. Demonic cultivators, on the other hand, could directly threaten—there was no more reliable method than this.
Especially after witnessing Qin Chao's actions in killing the bandits, his image was ingrained in everyone's minds.
"Officer Ai, I hope you can concoct a reason and not mention my involvement," Qin Chao said to Ai Xiaoxue. "The deaths of these people will be attributed to you. As for the details, that's your responsibility."
Although she had known of Qin Chao's uniqueness, Ai Xiaoxue only truly witnessed it today. Frowning, she looked at Qin Chao without speaking. Indeed, what that man had told her was not wrong.
Qin Chao, did you think you could continue being an ordinary person? Someone in the organization has had their eye on you for a long time.
How the situation was ultimately resolved, Qin Chao did not know. A new locomotive was sent from the nearby station, pulling the train back to the platform, where it underwent inspection and repairs.
Many experts were puzzled, for by logic, the explosion of the two bombs should have been powerful enough not only to destroy the train's engine but also to send the first three carriages flying. Yet, in the end, aside from a hole, the carriage was astonishingly unharmed, as if an invisible force had protected it from any damage.
They did not know that the one who accomplished this feat was Qin Chao, a cultivator of the Diamond Sutra.
Ai Xiaoxue and the unseen Liu Aiguo both received commendations from the government and stepped off the train to be interviewed by reporters.
Meanwhile, Qin Chao and An Qing continued on the train, journeying through the night towards Weilian City.
Throughout the ride, An Qing stared intently at Qin Chao. She seemed to want to say something but, in the end, held her tongue.
"Think of me as an ordinary person," Qin Chao smiled at An Qing. "I've merely learned a bit of martial arts."
Martial arts? This was no mere martial arts!
An Qing was no fool, and she had seen everything clearly. She didn't know what to say, and the people in the carriage were deathly silent, fearing that if Qin Chao lost his temper, he might stand up and kill them all.
This terrifying man could even move a train. Killing them would be the easiest thing in the world.
After traveling through the night, the train finally arrived at Weilian City.
An Qing, having not slept a wink, had developed dark circles under her eyes.
"Why do you look at me as if I'm a demon?" Qin Chao couldn't help but laugh and feel a bit bitter when he saw An Qing's expression. Although he possessed power beyond ordinary people, he didn't want to be seen as someone special.
Especially when An Qing looked at him with such strange eyes, he found it hard to accept.
The last time, when he saved Li Xue and Long Beier in the wilderness, he endured their peculiar gazes for a long time. However, back then, his display of power had not been as shocking as this time when he singlehandedly pulled an entire train back onto the tracks.
If it had been him in the past, seeing someone else do something like this, he probably would have found it hard to accept as well.
"Give me some time to... adjust," An Qing waved her hand. The two disembarked the train and stood on the platform in the early morning light of Weilian City.
Weilian City, situated by the sea, had a slightly damp air about it. Suddenly, Qin Chao felt an impulse to see the ocean.
"Let's go to the seaside. I'll treat you to some seafood, how does that sound?" Qin Chao said to An Qing. Although he didn't like seafood, he felt it was only right to try some while he was here.
"Sure," An Qing nodded. "Coincidentally, our client's company is also by the seaside."
As she spoke, An Qing hailed a taxi, and the two climbed in.
