Chapter 241 Underground

"Sir, here's the account book detailing this month's income and expenses. Please take a look." In the room of the Head Deacon Mexias, Daimon Eitai handed an account book to him.

Mexias carefully examined the account book after receiving it. Both Deacons Mels and Daimon Eitai stood silently, waiting for his questions.

After a while, Mexias placed the account book on the table and said, "The church's income this month is higher than last month's. You both did well. I will report your achievements to the church leader and ask him to forgive your previous mistakes."

Upon hearing his words, the two Deacons' faces lit up with joy. They quickly expressed their gratitude to him.

Mexias waved his hand for them to be quiet and then asked Daimon Eitai, "Can we trust the man you found named Yagami-kyo? I don't want another incident like last time."

Daimon Eitai immediately replied, "I've had someone investigate him. He was indeed part of a Bulgarian mercenary group, and the rest of his information matches up as well. However, to prevent someone like Andrei with ulterior motives from infiltrating us again, I don't plan to involve him in church matters. Instead, he'll replace the deceased Sota Tetsuo and teach those disobedient ones a lesson on our behalf."

Mexias nodded and asked, "What about his abilities? Can he handle that kind of work?"

Daimon Eitai confidently said, "He is skilled, but most importantly, he's a typical despicable person. People like him will do anything to achieve their goals. According to my investigation, he didn't return to Japan because his mercenary group disbanded, but because he betrayed his own comrades to the enemy and was discovered, forcing him to flee back to Japan. I believe that someone as ruthless as him will do a better job than Sota Tetsuo."

Mexias expressed surprise, "Oh, he seems to have quite the nerve. However, while such people can be obedient dogs, they could also turn into wolves that bite their masters. You need to keep a close eye on him."

"I understand, Sir. I will make sure he remains a loyal dog to us."

Mexias suddenly asked the Deacon Mels, "What about those nosy women?"

Mels respectfully replied, "Since you mentioned waiting for your return before dealing with them, I haven't killed them. Instead, I've locked them in the basement. Do you want to see them?"

Mexias shook his head, "Never mind, it's already late. Let's deal with it tomorrow. You both may go and rest now."

After Mels bowed, he asked, "Would you like Miss Kimiyama to serve you?"

Mexias thought for a moment and then nodded slightly.

"Please wait a moment; I'll call her over right away. Please excuse us." With that, Mels and Daimon Eitai bowed again and left the room.

Once outside, Daimon Eitai said to Mels, "You're quite good at pleasing the Head Deacon, even offering your own mistress."

Mels replied with a hint of pride, "Don't misunderstand, I'm only asking Kiku to serve the Head Deacon for bedtime."

Daimon Eitai yawned and said, "Hmph, what a hypocrite. Enough of this, I'm going back. Notify me immediately if there's any news."

"I understand."

After parting with Daimon Eitai, Deacon Mels returned to his room.

As soon as he entered, he saw Kimiyama Kiku, his gorgeous mistress dressed in sexy garter stockings, sitting by the bed watching TV. She immediately smiled when she saw him and said, "You're back."

Mels nodded and closed the door.

Kiku came over to help him take off his robe, revealing his casual clothes underneath. Mels was quite pleased with her attentive service, as she was not only one of the believers he had introduced to the faith but also his personal mistress. Of course, only a select few knew about this arrangement.

"Do you want me to massage you?" Kiku asked, trying to please him.

"No need. You should go and attend to the Head Deacon's bedtime now."

Upon hearing this, Kiku's eyes flashed with fear.

Seeing her hesitation, Mels sternly said, "What, you don't want to go? Remember, it's a blessing for you to serve the Head Deacon."

"I understand, I'll go right now." Knowing he wouldn't change his mind, Kiku complied.

After she left the room in her believer's robe, Mels couldn't help but feel a little regretful.

He knew very well why Kiku was so afraid of going to the Head Deacon. Although the Head Deacon was powerful, he was getting old and couldn't function like a normal man. However, he enjoyed torturing women, especially beautiful ones, to find pleasure. Every time Kiku served him, she would return with bruises all over her body. And Mels knew that the Head Deacon's intention of not killing the nosy women while he was abroad was also for this purpose.

But as long as he could gain the Head Deacon's trust and support, what did a little sacrifice from his mistress matter? Mels stopped thinking about it, turned off the TV, and prepared to go to sleep.

At that moment, a few gentle knocks came from outside the door.

Did Kiku come back? Mels thought as he walked to the door.

As soon as he opened the door, a figure suddenly rushed in, grabbed his throat with one hand, and twisted his arm behind his back with the other. These movements happened almost simultaneously, leaving Mels clueless about what had just occurred.

"Don't move," the man said, closing the door with his foot.

Mels was terrified, completely caught off guard by the situation in his own room. He had been taken hostage by a man whose face he couldn't even see clearly.

After a while, Mels wanted to ask the man what he intended to do, but his voice was stuck in his throat, which was tightly gripped.

At that moment, the man said in a low voice, "If you don't want to die, follow my orders. I'm going to let go now, but if you make a sound, I'll kill you instantly. Understand?"

Mels quickly nodded within the limited range of motion.

The man slowly loosened his grip on Mels' throat but kept his hand there. He then asked, "Did you recently capture a few women?"

"Who are you?" Mels trembled as he spoke.

"Enough talk. Answer my questions," the man said, and twisted Mels' arm back with force.

In pain, Mels quickly answered, "Yes, yes."

"Where are they now?"

"They're in the basement."

The man's response matched what he had heard outside Meixias' room earlier, confirming that Mels was not lying.

"Take me to the basement now."

"I, I understand."

As they left the room, Mels walked side by side with the man, appearing like friends. But Mels knew that any sudden movement would result in the dagger at his waist piercing his body, so he walked with trembling legs.

Since it was late at night and the church was mostly empty, they didn't encounter anyone along the way.

Soon, Mels led the man to the basement entrance.

The basement looked like an ordinary storage space from the outside. Even the interior seemed unremarkable.

However, under the man's coercion, Mels pressed a hidden spot behind the door. With a few clicking sounds, an entire wall sank, revealing a space of about ten square meters with a staircase leading deep underground.

"Move," the man said, positioning Mels in front of him and pushing him towards the stairs.

As they approached the stairs, Mels reached out to touch the wall, but the man asked, "What are you doing?"

"I just want to turn on the lights," Mels hurriedly explained.

"Don't turn on the lights, keep moving."

With no other choice, Mels carefully descended the stairs in the darkness.

In this pitch-black environment, with a man behind him who could take his life at any moment, Mels felt his legs weaken, and cold sweat poured down his back. He even thought that if the man killed him here, no one would know that the esteemed Mels had died in such a dark and damp place. If there had been someone else with them, the man might not have targeted him. If he had known this would happen, he wouldn't have sent Kiku to Meixias.

As Mels was lost in his thoughts, they finally reached the bottom of the stairs.

"Find the women quickly if you don't want to die," the man said, growing impatient with Mels' slow pace.

"I, I understand," Mels said, picking up his pace to save his life.

The secret underground chamber was long and filled with a damp, uncomfortable darkness.

Mels had personally designed and built the basement, so even without light, he navigated smoothly without bumping into anything. However, the man noticed many rooms with iron doors in the darkness. Though he didn't know their purpose, he didn't think they were for storing miscellaneous items.

Ten minutes later, Mels turned a corner at a fork in the path and stopped in front of a particularly large room.

"Are they inside?" the man asked.

"Yes," Mels said, taking out a card resembling a credit card from his pocket and inserting it into the card reader on the iron door. He then began to enter a password on the keypad.

Observing the expensive electronic door, the man appeared deep in thought. If he hadn't seen wrong, the other rooms they had passed also had electronic locks. It seemed that the wealth of the Andis Church was greater than he had imagined.

After Mels entered the password, the door quickly opened automatically.

As they stepped inside, a faint, sour smell filled the air.

"They're in the cage on the left," Mels pointed.

The man gripped Mels and led him to the left corner, where they found a large iron cage holding eight women.

In the darkness, the man saw that the women appeared to be asleep. He scrutinized each of their faces and quickly identified the person he was looking for, letting out a sigh of relief.

"Why are they locked up here?"

"They were all brought here by the head of the church. He said they were spies sent by our enemies to investigate us. I don't know the specifics."

"All of them?"

"Yes. No, three of them were caught trying to help a defector and were brought back," Mels hurriedly corrected.

The man didn't ask any more questions. "Open the door quickly."

Mels took out a key and unlocked the iron cage.

At that moment, a woman sleeping inside was awakened by the sound of the lock. In the darkness, she vaguely saw two figures opening the cage and entering. Terrified, she screamed loudly.

Her scream quickly woke up the other women. Some joined her in screaming, while others trembled and shrank back into the corners. The scene was chaotic.

"Don't scream. I'm here to rescue you," the man shouted.

"What did you say?" a woman asked in shock and disbelief.

"Is it true? Are you really here to save us?"

"Who are you?"

"Please, take me out of here. I beg you."

For a moment, questions and pleas filled the air.

The man, annoyed by their noise, shouted, "Everyone shut up! If you want to leave, be quiet now."

The women who had been speaking immediately fell silent, not daring to make another sound.
