Vol 1 Chapter 22
"Is this all you've got when you attacked? What kind of duel did you think you could have with such pathetic skills?"
As Kapros burst into mockery, he saw the remaining five, enraged, grabbing their weapons and rushing in without a second thought. It seemed the pretense of a fair fight was now over.
However, both Kion-hyung and Kapros merely smiled at the situation unfolding exactly as they had hoped, without feeling any sense of alarm. Kapros tightened his grip on the sword in his left hand. This was the last time he had the opportunity to use 3rd circle magic. From now on, he would have to rely on 1st circle magic, his mental strength, and the power of his dual swords.
"You, I won't let you off!"
"Fireball!"
As he shouted the activation word towards the guy rushing in from the left, a Fireball appeared without needing the formula world to manifest, flying and exploding as he desired. After taking down one guy, he immediately saw a sword flying in from the front. He quickly brought down his left sword to block it. Clang!
Unable to block by lifting up due to lack of strength, he had no choice but to change the direction.
There was a sound of metal clashing, but Kapros tried not to be conscious of it. He shouldn't see the sword as a sword. He would drop it at that moment. So now he was trying to think of it not as a sword, but just as an extension of his arm. Of course, weapons shouldn't be used like that, but in his current state, he really had no choice.
He blocked a flying kick from the side by thrusting down another Fireball, then stepped back and looked for Kion-hyung. Hyung was fighting about three people behind him. Facing swords with bare hands is an extremely dangerous thing. Kion-hyung was sweeping through them like a fish in water, doing something that couldn't even be dreamed of without extraordinary speed. Using that technique that left only afterimages when exerting full power for a moment, he delivered a low kick, a blow to the solar plexus, and finished with a roundhouse kick. With each sound of wind, screams of "Whish, Thud, Argh" were heard together.
He's doing well.
Kapros's situation was by no means easy either. Perhaps because he looked weaker as a mage, as many as four people had rushed at him. Of course, two of them had taken enough damage to be unable to properly extend their swords, but it was still threatening nonetheless.
"Where are you looking!"
Taking advantage of the moment when Kapros had turned his eyes to look at Kion-hyung, he blocked a thrusting sword by instantly drawing his right sword. It was fortunate that drawing the sword had been a habit until a few years ago; otherwise, even he might have been stabbed if he had made a mistake. In fact, his arm strength had deteriorated a lot as he hadn't exercised properly for a long time. Even if his body remembered his sword to be more outstanding, that wasn't a style suitable for dual swords.
Seeing three people rushing in at once, seemingly having regained their strength during the brief moment he had given them, Kapros thought it was finally time to use that. He couldn't block three weapons at once with two arms. He stepped back and quickly opened his mouth.
"Devourer of flames! Become my guardian who rules and stand here! Fire Wall!"
Boom! Whoosh!
"Aagh!"
"Arghhhh!"
As the field exploded, an enormous wall of fire blazed up behind him. The guys screamed, but Kapros, standing right in front of the wall of fire, didn't feel hot at all.
Fire Wall was a sustained spell, so he didn't need to actively control it. Kapros smiled with the wall of fire as his backdrop.
"It's been really fun up to now, hasn't it? It's annoying, so let's get serious now."
Due to the rapid decrease in stamina, the guys' speed had dropped to less than half. In contrast, Kapros hadn't been hit particularly and had only made small movements, so his stamina had only decreased by about 1/3. By any measure, it was time to finish this.
Shing.
The left and right swords, still clean with their blades untouched as he had only been blocking, gleamed at his fingertips.
"Here I come!"
While running, he cast Fireball and threw it at the ground in front of one guy. As the guy stepped back in surprise at the sudden explosion, Kapros dove in and slashed diagonally across his chest and arm. Perhaps because it was a game, a sensation of cutting more smoothly than in reality flowed through his hands.
One down.
It wasn't enough to kill, but he had cut the arm to prevent him from holding a sword. Glaring at another guy who was dumbfounded beside the one who had just collapsed spraying blood, Kapros spun around once, immediately approached right in front of him, blocked the desperately swung sword with his left hand, and thrust with his right.
"Arghhhh!"
"Fireball!"
This time, he tried to control it to spew along the sword. Amidst the chaotic sound of explosion, he kicked the guy in the side, who was screaming as if surprised by his own blood, rolling him away as if to tell him to shut up, and then checked the position of the guy further away. He would inflict damage with magic to disorient them, then cut in at the critical moment. Having two hands made it easier to block from both sides. This was the pattern he had been practicing all along. Fortunately, he could use his right and left hands almost equally well, as he had deliberately trained to be ambidextrous to use both hands when wielding a sword in the past.
At that moment, just as he was about to turn around while casting Fireball, sensing a chill from behind, there was a "Whack!" sound and the enemy went flying.
"Where do you think you're aiming, you cowardly bastard!"
It seemed that one of the guys Kion-hyung had been dealing with had pretended to be down and then secretly aimed for Kapros's back when the Fire Wall protecting him disappeared. Hyung, who had instantly taken care of the remaining two guys and rushed towards Kapros, started stomping on the fallen guy while shaking his blood-stained fist.
"Die, you bastard! There's a limit to how shameless you can be! If Kar had been hurt even slightly, I would have minced you from fingers to spine like garlic, not in the game but in reality, you son of a bitch! Are you listening? Huh?"
Kapros had seen it before in the back alley long ago, but now hyung looked even more murderous. The two remaining guys were watching from afar as Kion-hyung, dripping blood from his fists and clothes, kicked and stomped the guy who couldn't even scream as if he were kicking a ball. Their faces, injured all over, were full of fear. Seeing the lack of strength in their sword-holding hands, it was clear they had already been overwhelmed and their spirits crushed by Kapros and Kion-hyung.
There was nothing more to see. Kapros grinned as he looked at those guys.
