Vol 1 Chapter 44
Kapros smiled slightly and spoke again.
"If we're going, we're going. We can go even if it's just the two of us. But before that, where's the Wizard Tower here?"
The mention of going even if it was just the two of them seemed to have had a considerable impact on Kran.
"What? It's absurd to just watch someone you know go down a dangerous path! Of course I should follow, even if it kills me! ...But by Wizard Tower, do you mean where mages change jobs? It's a bit different here."
Kapros ignored the first part and widened his eyes at the latter part.
"Different, you say?"
"I'm not a mage so I don't know well, but there's definitely no place that looks like a tower. There's a shabby house of an old mage in a corner of Torelit, and I think I heard that's where you change jobs."
Kapros was very surprised by what Kran said. At the same time, he felt something interesting.
Everything in Mist had a reason. There was no way one city would have a tower and another a house for no reason.
"Can you guide me there?"
Kran nodded slightly with a puzzled face.
The old mage's shabby house was truly shabby, as its name suggested. When Kapros opened the old door that looked like it might fall apart, the inside was slowly revealed with an eerie sound that could have come from a horror movie.
Kapros told Kran and Yu-wan, who weren't mages, to wait outside, and entered the house alone. It was so dark inside that he couldn't see ahead.
"Fireball."
As he called out, imagining the most basic image of fire he had learned, a flame burst forth above his hand. And the moment the inside of the house came into view, Kapros froze for a moment.
"This is..."
The house, which had seemed so small and shabby from the outside that it was beyond dilapidated, had instantly transformed into a wide and tall space like the inside of a castle built with sturdy stones.
'Is this magic?'
Kapros defined the strange atmosphere he felt throughout the house as such, and slowly walked forward while speaking.
"Is anyone here?"
Then he felt something like a presence from inside, but it soon quieted down.
"Is anyone there?"
He tried speaking again after feeling that presence, but it remained quiet. Whether it was a person or not, something was definitely there... but if it wanted to pretend it wasn't, there was nothing he could do.
Kapros stopped about halfway in. He had no intention of waiting for whatever was hiding inside to come out on its own.
Whoosh!
He made the Fireball in his hand into a fire sphere three times larger and hotter. It was an extra-large version of Fireball focused on visual effect.
"Well then. Let's see..."
Just as he was about to bring down his hand, satisfied with the well-made Fireball,
"Ah, wait a moment, you bastard!"
Surprisingly, the Fireball that had just left his hand and was about to fly disappeared instantly with a pop along with someone's shout.
'For this to happen...'
Kapros recalled the magic on the last page of the 5th circle book.
"Dispel..."
A magic that could cancel out magic of an opponent one circle or more below oneself. The greater the skill gap with the opponent, the easier it was to dispel, but the reverse also meant greater backlash on oneself. But to so easily dispel his magic when he was just learning 5th circle...
"Aish, you nasty fellow! Are you trying to destroy someone's house right off the bat with that dirty temper?"
Suddenly, a small, disheveled old mage was standing in front of Kapros.
"Are you the owner of this house?"
When Kapros asked, the old mage glared at him.
"Yes! I'm the owner! If you're a guest, you should know how to wait like one! You made me forget the part I was researching, what are you going to do about this!"
Kapros wasn't particularly sorry, but he bowed his head slightly and apologized.
"I'm sorry. There was no response even after calling several times... More importantly, I came because I had something to ask."
"Something to ask?"
Hearing this, the small old mage sighed deeply, relaxed his expression, and guided Kapros inside.
"Aish. Can't be helped. It's my job after all... Come in."
Following the old mage inside, there was a desk and chair in the corner of a library filled with books.
When Kapros couldn't hide his surprise at the books filling the incredibly high shelves, the old mage sat down in the chair in front of the desk with a subtly proud look and gestured towards a small chair in front. As Kapros sat down, the old mage pushed a pile of indecipherable papers on the desk to one side and rested his chin on his hand.
"Well. You're the most decent one I've seen recently. What do you want to ask?"
It's best to be polite to NPCs first.
"In the city of Asgar where I was, to become a mage, one had to go to the Wizard Tower in the city. But I was curious about why there's no tower in Torelit, which is bigger than Asgar, so I came to ask about it."
Hearing this, the old mage raised his wrinkled eyes to meet Kapros's.
"No tower in Torelit? Who says that?"
At this question asked as if it were so obvious, Kapros was momentarily at a loss for words.
"Is there a tower?"
"Of course there is."
"Where..."
As Kapros spoke, thinking he wouldn't let Kran off easy as soon as he got out, the old mage grinned and pointed upwards.
"Here. This is Torelit's Wizard Tower."
Kapros had to take a deep breath for a while to counter this ridiculous answer.
"Pardon?"
"If you came looking for Torelit's Wizard Tower, this is certainly the right place."
Seeing Kapros's expression, the old mage cackled.
"No, I'm not teasing you. There are circumstances... This isn't a normally established Wizard Tower, you see."
At that moment, the smile disappeared from the old mage's face and his expression changed dramatically.
"Yes... This is a Wizard Tower that has been hidden for a long time. If you're the first to come asking about it in this place that has been concealed for ages, you might be worthy of hearing this story."
Ding!
What in the world...
As Kapros was racking his brain over this unexpected situation, suddenly a notification window popped up with an alert sound.
"..."
A quest with such detailed explanation...

Jin Soram, the top-ranked hunter representing South Korea's Rift Phenomenon Management Headquarters, is stronger than anyone else and lazier than anyone else. As soon as he arrives at the office, he buries himself under a blanket and falls asleep. When he goes out on a mission, he causes accidents and returns to the office, often shirking his duties.
"Do you know how it feels to play a game that's already messed up? ...Anyway, the next round will come, so this time, I'm just going to play it recklessly."
In fact, his true identity is someone who has regressed through three lives, trying to save the world from the Great Rift but failing each time. After repeating a life where he couldn't sleep peacefully even for a day, he became completely exhausted before this life even began.
"I know. You worked hard, Jin Soram."
And then there's Han Tae-un, the man who saved Soram and died in all three previous lives. As he did in every life, he comes to Soram's side once again. The Great Rift is approaching soon. It's impossible to resolve it in this life without any preparation. Soram vows to save Tae-un in this life and die himself. At least, he won't let Tae-un save a failure like himself again.
"For now, until then, let's sleep..."
As Soram sluggishly lives his life waiting for that moment, a gradual change occurs in his heart.
'I thought this was a messed-up round... but I want to live a little longer here.'

Three years later, his name has been forgotten by the world. The Council has been persistently pursuing him, but he has proven difficult to capture. Frustrated by this, Hugo Agrizendro, the commander of the Council's army, decides to personally apprehend him.
"Since when have you been watching me?"
Leonardo was calculative and astute, so it wouldn't be surprising if he had been observing Hugo for some time now. However, Leonardo's answer was something that even Hugo had not anticipated.
