Vol 1 Chapter 48

#(3)

"This is the Endless Maze."

Where Kran pointed, there was something that looked like nothing more than a pile of ruined walls. It was so large that it was impossible to guess its overall size.

"But is it really okay with just the three of us? I heard even groups of 20 often get wiped out here..."

As Kran spoke worriedly, Kapros chuckled.

"More importantly, is it okay for you to follow us? You seemed to have a lot of friends."

True to his words, Kran was almost a celebrity in Torelit. His sense of justice was so strong that he seemed compelled to intervene and resolve any incident that occurred, and in the process, people who were charmed by his handsome face and knight-like speech followed him around to the point of annoying even Yu-wan behind Kapros.

However, Kran shook his head as if Kapros's words were nonsense, and scratched his hair that covered the nape of his neck as he spoke.

"I like following you guys. With that level of skill, I think the experiences we'll gain along the way will be incredibly numerous and interesting. And above all..."

"Let's go in."

Just as Kran was about to continue speaking with a slightly reddened face, Yu-wan's cold interjection made Kran's eyes widen.

"You...!"

"Ah, right. Let's go in."

As Kapros nodded in agreement, Kran followed behind with somewhat slumped shoulders.

The moment they entered the ruined building, a truly dark stone-walled maze appeared before their eyes.

"I told you how to get through this maze, right?"

Kran spoke as he drew his sword with a swish upon entering. It was something Kapros had already heard from Kran several times and remembered without needing to hear it again.

In this maze, there was a door at the end of each passage. Going through that door would drop you in an unexpected place as if space had been distorted. If lucky, you might return to the entrance or proceed to the next level of the maze, but if unlucky, you could be trapped in a dead end with no way to move.

Moreover, if people exited at different times, even party members could end up in different places, so even if dozens of people entered as a party, they could easily be wiped out if unlucky. Kran added that the monsters appearing in this maze were particularly tenacious, so it was crucial to make sure they were definitely dead.

"But if you enter the door while maintaining physical contact, you can always exit to the same place."

Kran said with a grin. In other words, it would be fine if they entered while holding hands amicably. However, that was only when there was time to spare while passing through the door. Would there be leisure to hold hands and pass through the door while being urgently chased by something? But Kapros believed in the skills of those with him now.

"Shall we go then."

They entered the maze with their nerves on edge.

"Grrrroar!"

"Yu-wan, left!"

While Kran was dealing with a monster hound that looked like a monstrous dog with three eyes in front, another hound appeared on the left. As soon as Kapros shouted, Yu-wan rushed forward and slashed the side of the hound that was as tall as himself.

"Kyaang!"

As dark red blood splattered violently against the wall, the hound's powerful claws grazed above their heads.

"Haste!"

Kapros cast Haste on all of them, increasing their movement speed and reflexes, and then began casting Lightning Bolt, a 3rd circle spell that had become even easier to cast now that he had entered the 5th circle.

"With my light and burning lightning, turn even the soul into a handful of ashes. Lightning Bolt!"

As he imagined countless lightning images in his mind, light burst from both hands, and with a crackling sound, Lightning Bolt materialized in his hands. Kapros gripped them and began alternately striking at the hounds.

Crackle! Boom! Boom! Boom!

Along with the exhilarating feeling, the hounds let out yelping screams. Taking advantage of this, Yu-wan and Kran quickly took down the enemies. As he used magic freely after a long time, Kapros felt his mood gradually elevating.

"Hahaha!"

Somehow, as they dealt with the monsters, there were times when his mood would soar and he couldn't help but laugh. It was partly due to the refreshing thrill he felt when seeing his magic hit squarely, but in fact, combat was what he found most enjoyable while playing the game, aside from walking on his own legs. Hearing Kapros's laughter, Kran, in the middle of attacking, wore a blank expression and missed the claws coming down at him.

"Fireball!"

Boom!

"Kyak!"

Not missing that moment, Kapros flicked his wrist as if making a dunk shot, and a head-sized spinning Fireball generated in mid-air hit the hound's leg and exploded according to the image he had conjured.

"Ah!"

Kran, seemingly realizing he had nearly died, refocused on the attack but didn't forget to mutter one thing.

"To enjoy yourself in a place like this... Unexpectedly, that kind of tendency..."

What kind of tendency?

Kapros completely ignored this and turned back to the newly appeared group of hounds with a joyful smile. Yu-wan and Kran seemed a bit flustered by the suddenly increased number of enemies, but Kapros was a mage strong against multiple opponents.

"Welcome. And farewell!"

After all, he had cast five layers of Magic Shield around himself, so it wouldn't break easily. There was also a mass destruction magic spell he had wanted to see the true power of in this situation.

In an instant, as he drew circles with both hands, a blue magic circle formed beneath his feet. Kapros quickly began chanting the incantation while keeping his gaze on the enemies in the formula world.

"Thunder of the moment, lightning as long as eternity. In the instant connecting end to end, become one trajectory and rise as the light of the heavens!"

Crackle!

The Chain Lightning he had used against the Lord Ghoul and Skeleton before revealed its true form, raging wildly in the light connecting his hands. Kapros watched them gleefully while finalizing the range setting.

What he wanted was maximum damage explosion power aimed at the maximum number of targets!

"Chain Lightning!"
