Vol 2 Chapter 50
"I can't."
"What?"
Kapros felt a surge of anger, thinking it was ridiculous that Yu-wan had made him wait all this time just to say those short words. Yu-wan continued with an expressionless face.
"I can't explain it to you right now. Please understand."
Understand? Did he just say understand?
"Don't be ridiculous. I won't accept 'no comment'. Explain properly. If you can't explain, I'll think I was wrong to trust you and leave."
Had Kapros really misjudged Yu-wan?
He had thought that the Yu-wan who had been with him until now would surely be able to explain in a way he could understand. He had believed that then he would be able to trust him again, that they would become true 'friends'.
Was that not the case?
Kapros felt his expression hardening with the slowly rising anger and something akin to a sense of betrayal.
"...It's not something you need to worry about. It's not related to you. It's just my business."
Yu-wan answered with his handsome face slightly frowning.
He didn't understand. What was important here wasn't whether Kapros was involved in Yu-wan's suspicious activities or whether they would harm him. Kapros was angry because the 'friend' he trusted was deceiving him and refusing to even explain in front of him.
What had Kion-hyung said? Even if Kapros thought of someone as a friend, it was uncertain whether the other person would think the same way.
He knew that very well from personal experience.
Kapros had thought of Jeong Seung-jo as a friend, but because Jeong Seung-jo didn't think of him that way, the accident had happened, and he didn't want to experience that again. But like a fool, he had come to trust someone again, acknowledged them as a friend, thought they had laughed together happily and understood each other's hearts, but was this all just his own delusion again? Would the result end up being no different from that time?
Not related? Just understand that it's not something to worry about?
Ignoring the sudden, inexplicable pain throbbing in his chest, Kapros glared at Yu-wan.
"You really can't explain?"
If Yu-wan thought of him as a friend, Kapros thought he would at least explain why he couldn't explain.
He hoped for an excuse, no, just any other words.
But the answer that came back was not that.
"I'm sorry."
"...Tch."
This is maddening.
Kapros suppressed the hollow laughter rising from within with all his might and stood up abruptly.
"Let me ask one thing. How do you think of me?"
He asked the same question Kion-hyung had asked him. Yu-wan seemed quite taken aback by this question. He looked at Kapros's expression for a moment as if trying to read the true meaning of the question, and when he couldn't, he slowly opened his mouth.
"You are...?"
"...A friend."
The slowly uttered answer echoed emptily. Yu-wan also stood up as if following Kapros. The eyes that had been looking down at Kapros until just now were above his when Yu-wan fully straightened his legs.
Damn it. Unintentionally, it had become a composition where Kapros looked small.
Yu-wan slowly opened his mouth.
"I... am not."
For a moment, Kapros felt his head fill up and then empty all at once.
At the same time, a few fireballs shot up into the sky from the Magictopia guild building, oblivious to the atmosphere. The fireballs burst like fireworks, beautifully decorating the sky. As Kapros glanced at them, he suddenly thought everything was ridiculous.
He hadn't expected to feel this cold when he came up to this roof.
Especially towards you, Yu-wan.
"I don't know what your purpose was, but should I say thank you for the trouble of hanging around with someone who's not even a friend?"
In contrast to his feelings, the question came out very calmly, and Yu-wan's eyes hardened for a moment. It was an incomprehensible reaction.
"That's not it."
"Then what is it?"
Kapros tried to hold back, but in the end, a cold fire rose up from his stomach.
"Kap. ...There seems to be a misunderstanding. That's not what I meant."
Just as Kapros was thinking about whether he should throw a punch, Yu-wan sighed with a troubled look and said.
A misunderstanding? He said with his own mouth that he didn't think of him as a friend, so what misunderstanding was there?
"I didn't expect to receive such a question suddenly, so my explanation was probably too brief. Let me rephrase."
Yu-wan reached out his hand, his face completely changed from before - intense yet resolute - as he stared at Kapros. As Kapros didn't reject the hand suddenly approaching his face and kept his gaze fixed, Yu-wan's cool large hand touched his cheek completely.
A shiver ran down Kapros's spine in that moment.
"I'm sorry to say this to you, but I don't see you only as a friend. ...This is the complete answer."
And unbelievably, the next moment, Yu-wan's face came so close that his lips touched Kapros's. Lips that Kapros could barely feel pressed lightly against his own for a moment before quickly returning to their original position.
To be precise, it was a level of contact that could hardly be called a kiss, but Kapros's mind went blank, and he remained frozen like that for several minutes even after Yu-wan removed his hand and stepped back.
When he came to his senses again, he had unconsciously taken two or three steps back.
Kapros couldn't even tell what expression he was making. Yu-wan came into his field of vision, smiling faintly with a bitter expression. To Kapros, who couldn't say anything, Yu-wan bowed his head with a strangely refreshed look.
"I thought this might happen... I wanted to avoid it."
"..."
"I hope you're not too shocked."
Another bitter expression appeared on Yu-wan's face at the lack of response. Looking at that, Kapros began to try to forcibly restart his unresponsive brain.
The meaning of the contact that had just occurred was so clear that it was impossible not to feel it, no matter how hard he tried. There were many such people around, but in all his life, Kapros had never been interested in someone of the same sex. And he had never thought that he would be the object of such interest. And yet...
"Haa..."
