Vol 2 Chapter 51

As Kapros finally let out a sigh, Yu-wan's deepened eyes looked at him with a clearer meaning than before. Due to those slightly trembling eyes, Kapros began to feel that everything he had wanted to confront Yu-wan about and get angry over until now seemed useless.

Even in the situation where neither of them could bring themselves to speak first, Kapros could sense that Yu-wan was currently waiting for an answer from him. After organizing his thoughts for a moment, Kapros answered slowly.

"...I understand what you meant by saying it was a misunderstanding, for now. But that doesn't mean I've accepted the parts you didn't explain... Let's talk about this again later."

Hearing Kapros's answer, Yu-wan suddenly started laughing, his shoulders shaking lightly. Was he crazy?

"As expected, you're calm to the point of being cold-blooded. I've always thought that aspect of you was attractive."

"..."

Kapros wondered if Yu-wan had considered how he might feel about having to hear about his attractiveness right after being kissed by a man out of nowhere. He was quite confused, but it seemed it wasn't showing much.

Yu-wan smiled lightly and then gently brushed Kapros's hair with his hand.

"Since you've promised a next time, I'll try to be able to explain then. So, please think about what I said too."

With that, he didn't do anything more and returned to being the usual taciturn Yu-wan. Kapros also didn't know what more conversation they should have here, so they returned to Kion-hyung and Palton's Giant guild. But if there was one thing that had changed, it was that Yu-wan now had no hesitation in following behind Kapros. Strangely, that fact made Kapros feel a little more at ease.

The next day, they heard surprising news.

"Kap! I did it!"

Kran shouted, trembling with emotion.

"Huh?"

"I did it, I tell you, all of those 10 consecutive quests of hardship!"

Kapros nodded as he looked at Kran, who was sparkling several times more than usual, overwhelmed with emotion.

"...I see. Congratulations."

"Sniff sniff. When those devilish old folks at the temple told me to read an embarrassing passage 100 times out loud at the top of the fountain sculpture in the middle of Zagreb square for the final tenth quest, I really wanted to give up..."

Kran collapsed on the floor, swallowing his tears.

"Psalm 10:1, The smile of the truly merciful God is endless! ...Everyone was laughing at me. Screenshots and videos were taken as background. Sniff sniff... If I had done a little more, I might have been interviewed on Game TV. What kind of mercy is this! It's merciless! Those merciless bastards."

The Kran that Kapros knew didn't seem like the type to be particularly embarrassed about doing such things... Suddenly, Kapros regretted not going to see it. It probably would have been quite funny.

Kran's lament continued.

"Still, it's fortunate that I finally did it and got a clue about the location. ...Huh?"

At that moment, Kran stopped talking and looked at them strangely. More precisely, it was towards Yu-wan, not Kapros.

"By the way, Black Swordsman, you're here too? I thought you had quit the game since I hadn't seen you for so long."

"I didn't quit."

As Yu-wan answered nonchalantly, Kran couldn't hold back his laughter and covered his mouth with his hand.

"You still haven't even got the first clue for your quest, right? I'm done now, I just need to go find it! Hahaha!"

Yu-wan stared expressionlessly at Kran, who was laughing heartily as if all his previous hardships had been washed away. When Kran gradually stopped, seemingly feeling a subtle unease at that expressionless face that showed no reaction even after laughing for a while, a cold and faint smile appeared on Yu-wan's lips.

"W-What? What's with that unpleasant expression?"

"Using the word 'done' in the wrong context won't be of any help."

For a moment, Kran's expression froze white.

"Y-You bastard. I wondered why you hadn't been seen for a while, but your rudeness has been upgraded!"

Kran jumped up and down with anger, but Yu-wan's innocent expression, as if wondering why Kran was acting like that, only made him more heated. Kapros chuckled at the bickering between Yu-wan and Kran, which seemed like a festival of antics he hadn't seen in a long time.

'Thanks to those guys, it seems I'm laughing for the first time in a while.'

Seeing Kapros laugh, Yu-wan immediately softened his expression as if he didn't care about Kran anymore, and then smiled back, his eyes crinkling.

"What, now you're openly laughing at me?"

Of course, Kran was very angry at that smile.

"I don't know why you're acting like this."

"What do you mean you don't know!"

"I see that the more you act like this, the funnier it is."

"W-What did you say..."

Yu-wan's eyes sparkled with undisguisable joy as he shrugged as if to say he really didn't understand why Kran was acting this way. Although he pretended not to on the outside, it seemed that Yu-wan also quite enjoyed engaging in these meaningless antics with Kran.

"I must be crazy for talking to you..."

With a cry that one avoids dung not because it's scary but because it's dirty, Kran turned around and looked at Kapros. Then he flashed his white teeth and gave a playful smile that didn't match his age. Only then did Kapros realize that this guy had also deliberately exaggerated and let Yu-wan win. Not just now, but maybe always before too.

The smiles of those two were somehow similar.

Before he could properly think about the meaning of that, Kapros ended up laughing, holding his stomach.

"Hahaha..."

It finally felt like the place where he should be was complete again.

"Kap. By the way, isn't today the guild war? Are you going there?"

After a while, when Kapros had calmed down, Kran suddenly changed his expression to a worried one and asked. Kapros nodded.

Because of that, Palton and Kion-hyung had already gone to the place where the guild war was being held. It was the huge basin to the west of Zagreb.

"Yeah."

"Then we can't leave right away."

"Leave? Where?"

When Kapros asked in puzzlement, Kran grinned and answered.

"Well, of course, to the place where my quest is sleeping, where else?"

Ah, right. He had just said he found out the quest location.

"I've completed all ten quests to find out the location, but there's another time limit. I have to arrive at that place before nightfall in MIST time."

In fact, his true identity is someone who has regressed through three lives, trying to save the world from the Great Rift but failing each time. After repeating a life where he couldn't sleep peacefully even for a day, he became completely exhausted before this life even began.

"I know. You worked hard, Jin Soram."

And then there's Han Tae-un, the man who saved Soram and died in all three previous lives. As he did in every life, he comes to Soram's side once again. The Great Rift is approaching soon. It's impossible to resolve it in this life without any preparation. Soram vows to save Tae-un in this life and die himself. At least, he won't let Tae-un save a failure like himself again.

"For now, until then, let's sleep..."

As Soram sluggishly lives his life waiting for that moment, a gradual change occurs in his heart.

'I thought this was a messed-up round... but I want to live a little longer here.'
