Chapter 120: The Return Journey
Zhou Tonghui wasn't deliberately trying to troll Bai Hongbo and the others - his lifestyle was fundamentally different from theirs.
Zhou Tonghui was twenty-one years old and still in university. His future plan was to become a lawyer, and Zhou Yaoxiang had raised him in a rather aristocratic and strict manner from childhood. He normally had no contact with the family's businesses, which were managed by Zhou's other older sons.
Zhou Tonghui hadn't experienced the great chaos before Year 42, nor had he seen the family's accumulation phase, so the hospitality principles instilled in him from childhood were all about being proper and formal.
As Su Tianyu put it, why had the Zhou family spent three generations wielding knives to carve out their territory? Wasn't it so their descendants could live properly and respectably? How could they possibly still raise their children in the ways of the underworld?
And so, the well-mannered Zhou Tonghui had spent a considerable sum to treat everyone to a musical performance.
It was said that Big Bai's snoring that night could rival the volume of the performers' lines on stage.
......
Early the next morning.
Wawa smiled and asked Big Bai: "I heard you all went to see a musical?"
"Ah!" Big Bai replied energetically: "Just experiencing Zone One's cultural atmosphere!"
"Your level of appreciation must be quite sophisticated!" Wawa deliberately needled Big Bai. "But why didn't you take us to see the musical?"
"My inner thighs got chafed from horse riding yesterday. Put some medicine on them for me, and I'll tell you why!"
"Then we can go see more musicals after?"
"Say one more word and I'll chafe your inner thighs too!" Bai Hongbo said fiercely.
"Brother, look at him, he's always verbally harassing me!" Wawa turned and shouted to Yu Mingfei.
......
On the third floor of the main building.
Yu Jinrong, Yu Jinhang, and Su Tianyu, Yu Mingyuan and others sat around the conference table, while Zhou Yaoxiang sat at the head position.
"Chairman Zhou, for this loan, we'll repay the principal and interest within three years," Yu Jinrong said with his hands in his sleeves. "If things go smoothly, we might repay early, with interest paid as agreed."
"No problem," Zhou Yaoxiang nodded slowly. "I'll notify the company finance department to transfer the money to you right away!"
Yu Jinrong was slightly stunned: "Don't we need to communicate with finance, sign a loan contract or something?"
"Hehe!" Zhou Yaoxiang grinned. "Isn't your name Yu Jinrong worth twenty million? Loan contracts have no binding power. If I can lend, I don't care about that."
Yu Jinrong smiled: "Good, then thank you for your help, Chairman Zhou!"
"Hope your association does well," Zhou Yaoxiang stood up to shake hands with Yu Jinrong. "And hope you continue to rise in Dragon City!"
"Thank you!" Yu Jinrong shook his hand.
And so, Zhou Yaoxiang lent Yu Jinrong twenty million in cash at bank interest rates, without signing any written agreements.
The big shots settled the matter in just a few words, then Zhou Yaoxiang invited everyone to stay and play in Zone One for two days, but Yu Jinrong was eager to return to handle the association matters, so he politely declined.
Near noon, the Yu family group discussed and felt there was no need to return to the urban area, since the money had been arranged and they estimated the twenty million would be transferred to the Yu family account before they even reached Dragon City. So everyone prepared to depart directly from the Zhou estate to fly back to Dragon City.
After packing simply, everyone got into the cars around 1 PM.
Zhou Tonghui was still in charge of seeing everyone off, along with the driver who had taken them to see the musical last night.
As Su Tianyu and the others got into the car, Zhou Tonghui was still smiling and saying to Bai Hongbo: "Come play again when you have time!"
"Hehe, sure!" Su Tianyu nodded.
Zhou Tonghui closed the car door and went to the lead car, while Bai Hongbo watched his retreating figure and replied speechlessly: "If I ever come to the Zhou family again, I'm a grandson!"
Everyone shared a knowing smile, no one bothering to respond to him.
The convoy set off toward the airport.
Although this trip's method of resolving the funding issue was unexpected and not particularly ideal, the Yu family had established some connection with the Zhou family through this matter, gaining another friend. So overall everyone felt they had accomplished their mission and were in good spirits on the return journey.
In the business car, An Qiqi was still wearing loose sportswear, sitting to Su Tianyu's right, dozing off.
"If you're tired, you can lie on my shoulder!" Su Tianyu winked at her.
"Oh my, I don't have that privilege! Better let the musical's young ladies lie on your shoulder...!" An Qiqi was quite the master of sarcasm herself.
Just as Su Tianyu was about to tease An Qiqi some more, his phone suddenly rang in his pocket. He took it out and saw it was a text message from Su Tianbei using a new number, with rather sensitive content.
Su Tianyu frowned and began communicating with him via text message.
About an hour and a half later, the cars had completely left the Zhou family estate and were driving on suburban roads heading toward the airport.
In the lead car.
Yu Jinrong and Yu Jinhang were still discussing association matters, while Zhou Tonghui sat quietly, not paying attention to anything outside.
In the driver's seat, the burly driver who had been responsible for transportation throughout suddenly started frequently checking the rearview mirror.
"What's wrong?" Zhou Tonghui asked proactively.
The driver suddenly stepped hard on the gas, accelerating the car.
The car's movement caught Yu Jinrong's attention, and he also looked up to ask: "Almost there?"
"Something's not right!" the driver replied with furrowed brows.
"What?!" Yu Jinrong didn't quite understand.
The driver silently looked at the intersection on the elevated bridge, then suddenly took the left downslope, heading for the street under the bridge.
This wasn't the road to the airport, so the two cars behind also suddenly followed down.
The driver looked in the rearview mirror again and suddenly picked up the radio to call out: "Seems like someone's following us!"
Hearing this, Yu Jinrong looked back at the rear of the car in surprise.
"Vroom!"
The car rushed down the slope road and quickly reached the first intersection.
Just then, two old SUVs suddenly charged out from the left street at high speed, heading straight for the front of the convoy.
The driver reacted quickly, turning left directly under the elevated bridge and called out on the radio again: "Get the guns!!"
In the middle vehicle, Su Tianyu also frequently looked back at the rear of the car, suddenly pressing his hand on An Qiqi's head: "Don't move!"
An Qiqi was pressed down between Su Tianyu's thighs and immediately shouted angrily: "What are you doing?!!"
