Chapter 123: Comrades Always Respond First
Some judicial conditions in Zone One were completely different from Dragon City - gun control here wasn't strict. As long as firearms were purchased through official channels, they were completely legal.
Simply put, it was like state constitutional systems - in some places even smoking big stuff was fine, but in others it wasn't.
Outside the Veterans' Bar, Zheng Han and his men each carried a military canvas bag as they got into an old, battered SUV.
Zheng Han sat in the passenger seat, closed the door, and immediately said: "Calculate distances, distribute firepower."
A young man with a crew cut skillfully started the car and opened the navigation: "Lika district, right?"
"Big Pit Su is a disaster star - wherever he goes, trouble follows," a burly man in the back seat frowned as he opened his canvas bag and said very exasperatedly.
......
On the street by the elevated bridge, Su Tianyu held his phone and shouted at Bai Hongbo: "You're not their target. Take An Qiqi and the others to find a safe place to hide, don't come out."
"What about the boss?" Bai Hongbo demanded.
"Captured," Su Tianyu instructed again. "Just don't come out."
"Got it," Bai Hongbo hung up.
Su Tianyu stood by the road and tried to flag down two private cars, but they didn't stop because the long gun he was carrying was too eye-catching.
Left with no choice, Dog Six finally had to shoot at the underside of an oncoming car to force it to stop.
"Screech!" An old sedan stopped about thirty meters away.
Su Tianyu was about to rush over, but he never expected that a sixty-something-year-old man in the car would point a pre-New Era bolt-action rifle out and shout at him: "Damn gangsters, want a shootout?!"
In the free Zone One, civilian firepower was maxed out.
Su Tianyu stepped back and immediately waved to indicate he could leave.
"Vroom!"
The sedan turned and fled.
With the intense gunfire here earlier, the vast majority of private cars had naturally fled as far as they could. Only new cars driving onto the bridge would pass through here, but they were pitifully few.
Su Tianyu ran forward a few steps but saw no more cars around. His eyes were almost red with anxiety as he looked up at the direction the bandits had fled and was about to head up to the bridge.
"Vroom, screech!"
On the bridge's opposite lane, an SUV came down roughly and brutally, spinning to stop directly beside Su Tianyu.
"Get in!" Uncle Gang, who had just hijacked the car, shouted.
Su Tianyu pulled open the door and got in the passenger seat, pointing at the fork in the road: "They ran that way."
Uncle Gang didn't ask questions and immediately drove in pursuit: "Can we catch up?"
"I checked the navigation - this is the suburbs, the road layout is very clear. Drive fast, we can catch them, they just left," Su Tianyu urged.
Uncle Gang gripped the steering wheel with both hands and floored the accelerator, chasing into the depths of the street at least 170-180 kilometers per hour.
"Any support?" Su Tianyu asked.
"Yes, but very far," Uncle Gang replied. "This isn't our territory."
Su Tianyu considered for a while: "How's the police response time here?"
"Not slow, but concentrating police forces definitely takes time," Uncle Gang said through gritted teeth. "How many bullets do you have left?"
"Seven," Su Tianyu replied while working on his phone. "Keep chasing, just need to stay on their tail."
"You have people?!"
"Yes!" Su Tianyu nodded.
Hearing this, Uncle Gang seemed injected with chicken blood as he kept manually shifting gears to push the speed through RPMs.
The suburban roads weren't complex. The north side of the elevated bridge was wilderness - the enemy definitely wouldn't run that way. Plus since Uncle Gang and Su Tianyu had started pursuit quickly, after driving straight for less than a kilometer, Uncle Gang saw the rear of the enemy convoy.
"Stay on them, just stay on them," Su Tianyu immediately said. "Lock onto that red SUV in front."
Uncle Gang didn't reply, sweating as he controlled the car and accelerated again.
......
At the police unit in Lika district, over twenty duty officers had already left and gotten into police cars, but the bandits were fleeing in the opposite direction - the three-kilometer distance could only grow larger.
At the same time, four cars rushed out from the Zhou family estate, also heading this way.
On the outskirts of Pulai New District, a battered SUV was speeding through.
In the passenger seat, Zheng Han unscrewed his metal flask and took a big drink before asking: "Shared location?"
"Shared, they're heading in the opposite direction from us," the burly man in the back seat immediately replied. "Not far now."
Zheng Han's right hand was shaking slightly, but he spoke clearly: "Cover faces."
The three men in the back roughly tore off shirt linings or T-shirt edges and swiftly covered their faces.
......
At the edge of Lika district.
Two bandit vehicles slowed down at the rear, then four men leaned out with guns and started firing at Uncle Gang's SUV.
Fortunately, this area of Zone One had few people and lots of land. Plus being close to the suburbs with few residential areas, many streets weren't congested but rather empty, giving Uncle Gang some room to maneuver.
"Screech, screech!"
Uncle Gang lightly tapped the brakes, making small steering wheel movements to make the car serpentine on the ground, avoiding the incoming bullets.
This could only reduce the chance of the tires being hit, but couldn't completely avoid the spray of bullets.
The hood, right side of the car, and windshield were all riddled with holes.
Su Tianyu kept his head low in the passenger seat and shouted quickly: "If they stop, we charge through. If they don't stop, just stay on them, just stay on them."
Uncle Gang's forehead was cut by glass shards and bleeding profusely: "Why don't you fucking shoot back?!"
"Too few bullets, no use shooting now," Su Tianyu replied, bent over. "Chase, chase!"
The vehicles maintained a distance of fifty to sixty meters. After charging forward together for nearly two kilometers, the bandit vehicles suddenly split up - some going left, some going right.
"Screech, screech!"
At the same time, the two cars that had been trailing at the very back suddenly stopped at an angle, and everyone got out with guns.
"Damn it, they've split up and people are getting out," Uncle Gang shouted.
Su Tianyu suddenly sat up, raised the automatic rifle and pointed it out the window: "Fire - my people are here!"
"Screech!"
Uncle Gang angled the car to a stop.
Across the road, a battered SUV was driving toward them head-on, its driver immediately slowing: "Out!"
"Bang!"
As the car's speed dropped sharply, the burly man in the back seat jumped out while the vehicle was still moving, crouching as he ran along the opposite side of the street.
In the passenger seat, Zheng Han took another gulp of baijiu: "Call Little Six."
The man by the right car door lowered the window at this and shouted loudly: "Position!"
"Bang bang bang!"
Afraid the scene was too chaotic for his comrades to receive clear information, Su Tianyu fired three shots directly at the street where the red SUV was fleeing.
Seeing the position clearly, Zheng Han called again: "Sniper position."
The car's speed noticeably dropped again as the burly man on the right jumped out with a long gun.
"Turn," Zheng Han finally tied on his face covering and said quickly. "Driver watch the time, police units are coming too. Don't know if Little Six's boss can cover us, let's not show off in front of the officers."
"Understood!" the driver nodded.
"Vroom!"
The car plunged into the left street.
"Cover me," Su Tianyu sat in the stopped car and called to his comrade who had first gotten out across the street.
Across the street, the man with the long gun took position at the street corner, his left hand removing the gun wrap, left arm braced horizontally under the gun body, right leg bent and pushing against the wall to stabilize his body.
"Whoosh!"
The muzzle moved.
"Bang!"
With one shot, the gunman's whole body was pushed back by the recoil. About 110 meters away in the bandit vehicle, the driver's head instantly shattered.
