Chapter 126: Two Conditions

Gu Tongshan hung up the phone and carefully put down the gilt writing brush before turning to walk toward the coat rack.

This study had no windows, and the antique European chandelier cast a yellowish light. Gu Tongshan went to take a very ordinary suit jacket and put it on in front of the mirror.

Inside the room, the surrounding bookshelves held almost no books, but were filled with antiques, calligraphy, paintings, and special collections from different eras. Even the toad statue sitting on the desk was said to be from a warlord faction leader's collection from Zone Nine before Year 42, worth over 200,000.

Next to the bookshelves were many embedded dark cabinets over a meter tall, with wooden doors outside and safes inside, appearing very secure. They contained many IOUs from people Gu Tongshan had lent money to over the years, account books from the Zha'nan dock gang and General Association, as well as cash in various currencies.

Gu Tongshan put on the ordinary suit and a pair of old leather shoes he had worn for over four years before turning the switch for the hidden door and walking out.

The door opened to another study, but this one had bookshelves full of books, very ordinary and even plain furniture, with fabric sofas.

Gu Tongshan left the study and went downstairs.

......

In Huadu, in the director's office at the Huazhou Police Bureau.

"Yes, no problem, alright, sir, I understand!" A police director in his fifties hung up the phone with a smile and called out: "Bonnie!"

The door opened and a detective walked in: "What are your instructions, sir!"

"The shooting case in Lika district has been transferred to the District Security Bureau, with Branch Three of the Huazhou Division in charge," the director said happily.

"That's great, sir!" The detective was also very happy, as this meant he wouldn't have to investigate those blacks.

"Do it now. I hope to get off work early today to take my child to the ocean park," the director waved his hand.

Because this case involved Yu Jinhang, a minor department head at the Huazhou Division of the District Security Bureau, the Huazhou Division had immediately taken over the case.

Simply put, the case was transferred from the police system to the military-political department.

This process seemed simple but actually involved coordination between multiple departments, and this complex internal transfer process happened just because a Chinese leader at the District Security Bureau had spoken up.

......

Around 6 PM.

Yu Jinhang still hadn't returned to the hospital, and the Yu family's elder sister hadn't shown her face either.

After Su Tianyu, Bai Hongbo, Yu Mingyuan and others hastily ate some hospital-provided meals, they finally saw the operating room lights go off.

Yu Jinrong had been shot in the back, and although no major organs were damaged, he wasn't young anymore and the bullet's entry position was quite sensitive, so it took two surgeries before he was completely safe.

This shot had nearly taken half of Yu Jinrong's life. When he was wheeled out of the operating room, his face was extremely pale, with oxygen tubes in his nose, looking very weak.

In the special care ward, Yu Jinrong's consciousness was still somewhat fuzzy from the anesthesia, and when he said several sentences in succession, no one could hear clearly.

Yu Mingyuan leaned by the hospital bed and said softly: "Big Aunt is back and handling things, don't worry."

Yu Jinrong breathed twice and replied with great effort: "Little... Little Fei... Zhou Tonghui!"

"I know, I know, we'll do everything to rescue them first," Yu Mingyuan understood his father's meaning.

Yu Jinrong slowly nodded.

About ten minutes later, everyone left the ward together, leaving Yu Jinrong to the medical staff's care.

In the corridor.

Just as Yu Mingyuan was about to call Yu Jinhang, his phone rang first. He looked at the caller ID - it was an unknown number: "Hello?"

"My demands are simple, two points: First, Yu Jinrong formally applies to resign from the Sanitation Management Council and transfers his official personnel file back to Zone One within one week," a Chinese man whose accent couldn't be identified said in a low voice on the phone. "Only one week, do you understand?"

Yu Mingyuan gritted his teeth: "And the second point?"

"Hehe, second, Bai Dabiao in exchange for my two hostages, to be done outside the district," the other party replied with a cold laugh.

"You're dock gang people?!" Yu Mingyuan ground out.

"Who told you we're dock gang people? Don't be too clever. I'm giving you one week, that's it." With that, the other party hung up.

Yu Mingyuan looked down at the phone, veins bulging on his forehead.

"What did they say?" Su Tianyu immediately asked.

"Two demands - make my father leave Dragon City, and hand over Uncle Bai in exchange for two hostages," Yu Mingyuan replied.

"What fucking bullshit!" Bai Hongbo cursed upon hearing this. "Obviously this is Xu Hu's doing, he just wants revenge!"

Su Tianyu waved for Big Bai to be quiet first, only saying to Yu Mingyuan: "Better tell Uncle Jinhang about this first."

"Right, let's go find him," Yu Mingyuan looked at everyone and said: "Come on, let's go together!"

With that, everyone gathered and drove away from the hospital.

......

In the office building of the Third Action Department, Huazhou Division, District Security Bureau, a department was currently investigating numerous leads.

Yu Jinhang stood by the desk, expressionless as he asked: "Any results on the weapons' source?"

A blue-eyed white man stepped forward and began presenting the materials in a low voice.

The weapons from the scene could be roughly divided into three batches. One batch was used by the victims' side, meaning Uncle Gang and others' guns - these were easy to trace and classify. The other two batches of weapons were harder to source.

The hijackers' weapons were military grade. From the bullet and weapon types, these weapons were active in the black market and black circles. The Security Bureau had relevant materials but couldn't verify exactly who had used these weapons, as guns were too prevalent among the blacks.

As for the other batch of weapons, the Security Bureau couldn't trace their source, as these weapons had no previous usage records - meaning no criminal cases could be matched to these guns. However, Yu Jinrong hadn't let department members pursue this lead, as he knew these guns belonged to Su Tianyu's friends.

For the weapons, vehicles, surveillance footage, and identification of dead bandits at the scene - this series of work took the Security Bureau less than four hours to compile massive amounts of information.

......

Late at night, after 11 PM.

Six agents under Yu Jinhang drove to the Old Mo active communities outside Pulai New District.

At headquarters, Yu Jinhang said softly on the phone: "Don't alert others, lure the people out first."

At the same time.

In Dragon City, Xu Hu met Nick and shouted with bulging forehead veins: "Who the fuck told you to move against Yu Jinrong in Zone One? Have you all lost your minds?! Huh?!"
