Chapter 205: How to Spend the Remaining Money
Three days later, around 9 AM, in the Yu family living room, Su Tianyu, Yu Mingyuan, Yu Jinrong and others sat together on the sofa, drinking tea and watching Dragon City morning news.
"Yesterday, Dragon City Police Bureau held a press conference, giving a direct response regarding several recent criminal cases in our city and the large-scale fighting incident involving various social elements. Police Bureau Director Lin You clearly stated that this series of cases was caused by certain trade company bosses from Zha'nan dock ignoring the law and pursuing profit greedily. Though there were many participants with complex identities, the main culprits have now all been captured and the cases are under further investigation. Director Lin also stated that in the future, the Police Bureau would strengthen management of port security, increase police force..."
On the sofa, Yu Jinrong watched the TV, saying with a light laugh: "The Dock Workers Association still has heaven-reaching connections in Dragon City! Such a big matter, and the official media didn't mention the association once, directly pushing all problems onto some trade companies and individuals...!"
"If they went too hard and the dock workers stopped work for a few days, those above would suffer too," a garrison military officer said with a smile. "Zone One's supervisory board only wants to see stability, so Dragon City's management level is tied hand and foot. They need to show presence while not daring to make things too big. Plus this Dock Workers Association is very large - hehe, this is the mutual checks and balances between levels."
Yu Jinrong couldn't be bothered to watch the news anymore and directly used the remote to turn off the TV, looking with hands in sleeves at Su Tianyu who was drinking tea beside him: "Stop slurping - don't you have anything to say?"
"Ah?" Su Tianyu looked up. "What is it, Uncle Yu?"
"My father wants to ask about Wei Xiangzuo's matter," Yu Mingyuan directly clarified when he saw Su Tianyu playing dumb.
Su Tianyu put down his teacup and, after seeing Yu Jinrong nod at him, finally spoke in front of everyone: "I think there's no big problem."
"With Zhang Zhengfang gone, isn't Wei Xiangzuo's power in the Dock Workers Association a bit weak?" the garrison officer also directly asked Su Tianyu.
The Yu family's original decision to fully support Wei Xiangzuo had multiple reasons, among which the most important was that Old Wei had Zhang Zhengfang as a card in his hand.
Why?
Because taking down Xu Hu wouldn't let Wei Xiangzuo rise to power in one step and directly become Zha'nan District's leader. If he wanted to sit in this position, he needed the General Association's recognition and support to be legitimate. And in this step, Zhang Zhengfang could originally have given Wei Xiangzuo much support, but now that he was gone, this support naturally no longer existed.
Without Zhang Zhengfang, this very influential council of elders member, Wei Xiangzuo relying only on Dong Zheng's support from Fugang District and Zha'nan's local forces would appear somewhat weak. Just the rumors outside about him killing Gu Tongshan would be hard to whitewash.
Su Tianyu understood everyone's concerns and immediately replied softly: "There are several potential factors that are very advantageous for Wei Xiangzuo."
"Tell me, I'll listen," Yu Jinrong replied looking at him.
"The five million I gave Wei Xiangzuo earlier hasn't been spent yet," Su Tianyu replied with very clear thinking. "Now this money can be put to good use."
"Used where?" Yu Jinrong pressed.
"Used on relationships with Zha'nan customs," Su Tianyu replied with a smile. "Simply put, this Dock Workers Association's composition is typical pyramid management. The general association controls the big picture while specific management is handled by each district's halls. This leads to high autonomy in each district - under the rules, they operate independently. Take Zha'nan for example - when Xu Hu was there, customs anti-smuggling, Marine Police, Navy, checkpoints, port management departments - these relationships only recognized him or Wei Xiangzuo, not necessarily the Dock Workers Association."
Yu Jinrong's eyes lit up hearing this.
"Perhaps those high-ranking powerful people have close relationships with the Dock Workers Association's upper levels, but they aren't the ones actually doing things or managing - so the customs ground level also has a lot of say," Su Tianyu narrated concisely. "With Xu Hu dead, these people would rather see a familiar face take over Zha'nan leadership because it's convenient and rules don't need to change, so Wei Xiangzuo just needs to win over those people who originally supported Xu Hu. One word from those customs people can completely make up for Zhang Zhengfang's portion of power."
"Makes sense," the garrison people nodded slowly.
"Most of the money will be spent on the customs side," Su Tianyu continued. "Let's look at control within the Dock Workers Association - Gu Tongshan's son supports Old Wei, Fugang District's people will support him too, plus Zha'nan's local forces - this voice actually isn't small. To put it bluntly, if things have come to this point and the Dock Workers Association chairman still wants to remove Wei Xiangzuo and parachute in a new gang leader, then the events of the past few days could easily replay after some time. If Zha'nan's people don't submit, they'll fight again - but with the aftershocks of this incident not yet dissipated, continuing to cause disturbances would be courting death, wouldn't it?"
Hearing this, Yu Jinrong felt much clearer in his heart, as he had been worried that with Wei Xiangzuo imprisoned, Zha'nan would lose control.
Su Tianyu added with a light laugh: "There's another point - the Police Bureau's words carry weight too, after all they have authority over handling the cases! Hehe, Uncle Yu, actually you could find Director Lin - just one word from him helping would be worth more than a hundred words from those below."
Yu Jinrong looked at Su Tianyu with satisfaction, pointing at him while asking the garrison people: "How about that, this Su family kid is pretty good, right?!"
"Sharp mind," the garrison people nodded. "Good material for scheming and plotting."
"Haha!"
Everyone laughed as Yu Jinrong stood up pointing at Su Tianyu saying: "This time we made quite a few friends in the Police Bureau - later take money from Mingyuan and properly express thanks to them."
"I already called Wang Daolin - just waiting for funds from above."
"Don't get into corruption matters, or you'll be dealt with!" Yu Jinrong reminded.
"Yes, Uncle Yu!" Su Tianyu replied sweetly.
After finishing their chat at the Yu family's place, Su Tianyu immediately drove Kong Zhenghui and Bai Hongbo to meet with Wang Daolin.

In Zone One's Huadu.
An Qiqi walked in the mall wearing a shiny sports watch on her left wrist, asking Wawa: "What do you think... I should buy for him?"
"Who?"
"Who else could it be?! Su Six!"
"Tsk tsk... Su Six? I might as well be God Seven! Sounds so mushy." Wawa shuddered, glancing at a men's underwear store beside them and blurting out: "Why not buy him steel underwear - good for both of you, saves you from accidental discharge."
"Get lost!" An Qiqi cursed. "I'm just being polite returning a gift."
With that, An Qiqi looked toward a new store not far away, her eyes suddenly lighting up: "How about I give him that?!"
