Chapter 236: At Life's End, An Explosion

Early the next morning, outside the Materials Control Department's office compound, the man surnamed Xu sat in his car eating a hamburger, casually asking his lackey in the back: "Hey, has Er Bao called you today?"

"No, he called last night - didn't he say that Xiao Yucheng's son died?"

"Damn it, he called me last night too, but then lost contact, can't find him," the man surnamed Xu cursed with furrowed brows. "This bastard, he couldn't have privately taken Xiao Yucheng's money and run, could he?"

"Couldn't be, Er Bao's been with you quite long."

"What use is being together long these days?" The man surnamed Xu sneered. "You all look for him again."

"Good, I'll go find him later," the lackey in the back nodded.

The man surnamed Xu finished half his hamburger in two bites and pushed open the car door saying: "Let's go, continue working!"

......

Around 10 AM, at Dragon City government.

Secretary-General Lu sat in his office, looking up to instruct the civil servant: "At 1 PM, add a temporary meeting in Conference Room No. 1 - main topic is returning laborer settlement issues. Vice Mayor Guo and Karl, plus people from the Relief Department will attend to discuss settlement plans. Notify various media immediately to enter early and prepare interview plans."

"Yes." The civil servant replied smiling, asking Secretary-General Lu very familiarly: "Boss, the laborers just returned and already discussing settlement? Why so proactive this time?"

"With so many people coming in, can you build buildings or approve land for them?" Secretary-General Lu waved replying: "Borders sealed, laborers emotional - hold a meeting, comfort them, that's all, so media reports need to have strong correctness."

"Understood!" The civil servant nodded: "Then I'll go arrange."

"Go." Secretary-General Lu responded, looking down at his phone to see Jing Yan had just sent him a very concise message.

"Leader, free for lunch?"

......

At noon, around 12:40, Vice Mayor Guo finished his afternoon nap and brought his entourage down from the high-ranking officials' rest building to the parking lot compound.

"Hello, Mayor Guo!" Karl came over from another building with his big belly.

"Hello, hello, Mr. Karl!" Vice Mayor Guo went to meet him, smiling and shaking hands.

The two brought their respective staff members and after brief exchanges, got into their own vehicles heading to the venue.

Seven or eight cars drove out along the road behind the compound, just meeting a red light at the intersection, but with little traffic, so the drivers knowingly turned on hazard lights, preparing to directly pass through the auxiliary road straight ahead.

The city government's small cars didn't need to follow traffic rules in "emergency situations." To let the leaders rest early in the conference room, all drivers overtook from the road side, preparing to pass through early.

"Vroom!"

Just then, a medium-sized cargo truck following behind the convoy suddenly accelerated, its engine emitting piercing noise as it rushed up at extreme speed.

The driver heard the sound and glanced in the rearview mirror to see the cargo truck had mounted the curb, charging straight to crash into the right side of his vehicle.

"Screech!"

The driver urgently turned the steering wheel to adjust the car body leftward, but helplessly there were civilian vehicles waiting for the signal light on the left front, with little space.

"Bang!"

A muffled crash rang out in the street as the small car was hit by the truck and sent skidding diagonally. Vice Mayor Guo inside cried out in shock, quickly pushing the car seat to stabilize himself.

"Screech!"

After hitting the car, the large truck didn't stop but rather used its tall front to push the small car, continuing forward.

"This is an attack! An attack!!" the driver shouted wildly.

"Bang! Crack!"

The medium truck's tires were tall, and under the roar of the high-power engine, the body nearly rode up onto the left side of the small car.

"Get out, Mayor, get out!" the driver shouted.

"Vroom, rata-tat..."

The truck strained forward about three or four meters before finally stalling out.

Just then, the truck door popped open as the limping Xiao Yucheng jumped out from the driver's cab, eyes blood red, ignoring the street crowd as he directly pulled down a rubber hose from the front of the truck cargo box.

"Clang!"

At the same time, the car door popped open as Vice Mayor Guo shouted wildly while trying to rush out and escape.

Xiao Yucheng looked at everyone before him with a crazed expression, unhesitatingly pushing open the rubber hose's air valve with his thumb.

"Hiss hiss hiss...!"

Large amounts of liquid sprayed out.

"Wanted money?! Give you... give you all!" Overnight, Xiao Yucheng had withdrawn most of his savings to buy a truck and a full cargo load of restaurant industry gas tanks.

Xiao Yucheng looked at everyone before him madly, jumping and shouting: "Won't let me live, then die together! All die!!!"

"Sizzle!"

Xiao Yucheng put the lighter at the specially prepared rubber hose outlet.

"Whoosh!"

Visible flames sucked back into the rubber hose.

"Click!"

After lighting the hose, Xiao Yucheng took out two gasoline bottles from the truck and ran limping to the side.

"Bang, crash!"

Xiao Yucheng lit and threw gasoline bombs into Vice Mayor Guo's car while running backward.

Inside and outside the car were all ignited.

"Boom!"

Just as visible flames rose from Old Guo's body, the large truck suddenly exploded, intense flames shooting seven or eight meters high. The explosive force directly tore apart the heavy truck, countless fragments spraying across, piercing many surrounding car windows.

Xiao Yucheng's revenge was simple and direct - he didn't want to run anymore. With his son dead, he didn't know where to go.

What life, what existence? These had completely lost meaning to him!

He only knew one thing - those who had called him to go were these hypocritical, suit-wearing politicians, and now they must pay for what happened to him!

After the explosion, the street was in chaos.

Old Guo was directly consumed by the sea of fire.

Xiao Yucheng knew him - thirteen years ago this person was just an office director of the district Political Assistance. He personally held meetings calling laborers to enter Mo, and he gave countless promises that were never fulfilled.

Xiao Yucheng smiled watching him burn to death, just like yesterday watching his own son burn in the glass case.

Xiao Yucheng carried his son's photo, walking toward the street entrance both smiling and crying.

Soon, several police cars came from the direction of the city government compound. Over ten officers got out ordering Xiao Yucheng to squat with hands on head, but he completely ignored them, instead revealing the fuse wrapped around his waist as he directly lit it and charged toward the crowd.

The officers thought he had explosives wrapped around his waist and immediately chose to shoot him dead.

How much blood does one person have? Xiao Yucheng proved through practice that after he fell, the blood that flowed only stained two or three meters around his corpse.

Unfair, so he resisted.

Resisted, so he died!

Xiao Yucheng's mutual destruction only managed to ignite a truck full of gas tanks, while the powerful could determine the life and death of sixty to seventy thousand laborers with one policy order.

......

After the vice mayor and three white people from the Materials Control Department died in the attack, this news swept through all of Dragon City and even Zone One's political circles like a heavy bomb, but this was only the beginning of a series of chain reactions.

In Xinaluo, Zhao Weihu never imagined he would be implicated because of this.
