Chapter 280: The Silent, Introverted Big Brother
Gui Mengjun raised his wine glass, standing to reply: "Good good, if you have matters to attend to then go ahead - no need to be so polite."
"Good, when you have time later, have Dabai invite you to our home for dinner," Su Miaomiao said politely before clinking glasses with Gui Mengjun, forcing herself to take a sip of the white liquor.
Putting down her glass, Su Miaomiao said smiling: "Well, you all drink - I'll go first!"
"Good, go ahead with your business," Yu Mingyuan also replied.
After the pleasantries, Su Miaomiao gave her big brother a look before stepping out.
Gui Mengjun bent to sit down, hands crossed, casually asking Su Tianyu: "I heard several of you are surnamed Su - you are...?"
"Oh, the young lady is my cousin sister, the one who just left is my cousin brother," Su Tianyu replied smiling. "We're cousins."
"Hehe, so you have quite a big family, a big clan!"
"Yes, quite a lot of people," Su Tianyu replied casually.
"Heard You Yifan is organizing a gathering these days - if your family members are free, bring them all to join in the fun - more people make it livelier," Gui Mengjun invited smiling.
"Sure," Su Tianyu replied without taking it seriously.
After Su Miaomiao left, the drinking continued, but everyone at the table chatted about superficial topics without any deep exchange - this also matched Yu Mingyuan's purpose. His treating this meal today wasn't for discussing any business - firstly to expand connections, secondly to help You Yifan build relationships, so with the drinking reaching this point, the mission was considered accomplished.
Everyone ate and drank, staying in the private room for about another hour. Seeing the time was about right, Yu Mingyuan actively suggested changing venues, while Gui Mengjun had proper business to attend to, naturally declining politely.
Since this was the case, Yu Mingyuan didn't try to keep them longer. After seeing them off downstairs with Dog Six and others, they prepared to disperse.
"I won't go back to stay tonight - haven't been home for a long time - need to go see the old man," Bai Hongbo said reeking of alcohol. "You all go - I've called someone to pick me up."
"What home your ass - I see you dog just got an itch in your crotch again," Su Tianbei cursed.
Dabai looked at him slyly, reaching to wrap an arm around his neck: "The son knows the father best!"
"Get lost!" Su Tianbei cursed.
"I have a little girlfriend called Nuonuo, known as the Longkou vacuum cleaner. After I go home, I plan to meet her, but I feel fighting one-on-one I can hardly defeat her..."
"Then go take her down together?" Su Tianbei asked.
"Steady!"
"Alright then, you all go - I'll also go home to see the old man," Su Tianbei immediately called out to everyone.
"Don't always play with him - you're learning bad habits," Su Tiannan reprimanded frowning.
Dabai immediately responded: "Fine, Big Brother, I'll try not to play with him in future."
"Fuck!" Su Tiannan cursed, bending to get into Yu Mingyuan's car while turning back to say: "Go to the association early tomorrow - still have things to do."
"Got it!"
Su Tianbei replied before stepping away to follow Dabai.
In Yu Mingyuan's car, Su Tianyu casually asked Tiannan: "Drop you home first, Big Brother?"
Su Tiannan loosened his collar: "I won't go back today - do you still have space at your place? I'll go stay with you all."
"What, you also want to join our bayonet dormitory?" Yu Mingyuan asked teasingly.
"No, I'll just stay one night today."
"Fine, let's go then!" Su Tianyu responded smiling.
Thus, everyone sat in Yu Mingyuan's secretary Linda's large SUV, heading back to the Yu family villa in the night.
After dropping everyone off, Linda stayed in Yu Mingyuan's room for half an hour before leaving. Su Tianyu took a shower, forcing himself to spend over two hours in his room studying past years' Maritime Police civil service exam questions, while also chatting flirtatiously with An Qiqi via text.
This person Su Tianyu indeed had certain qualities superior to ordinary people, but among these qualities, the most striking wasn't his intelligence or personality, but his almost perverted self-discipline.
After returning from the military, Su Tianyu was quite busy for a period and didn't maintain his exercise habits from the army. Whenever this happened, this person would feel guilty the next day, feeling he had slacked off, lost his drive.
Sometimes people actually compete on this spirit. Once you feel you can muddle through everything, then perhaps you won't feel the slackening, and will find countless excuses in your heart to justify this attitude of just getting by.
Of course, this saying only applied to people like Su Tianyu - they had ambitions in their hearts, so had to maintain this fighting spirit. Most people naturally had their own life philosophies - no need for comparison or mutual criticism.
......
After checking many materials upstairs, Su Tianyu had sobered up and felt his throat was dry, so he took his water cup, wearing pajamas, and went downstairs.
The living room lights were dimly lit - Su Tianyu thought Linda hadn't turned them off when leaving, so after getting water, he was about to turn them off, but unexpectedly when he turned around, he saw Su Tiannan sitting alone smoking on the terrace.
Su Tiannan had acted a bit strange tonight - he spoke very little at the dinner table, and after dinner ended, hadn't gone home but came to stay here.
Though normally Su Tiannan also rarely joked with everyone and spoke little, today was clearly more unusual.
Su Tianyu held his water cup, coming to the inside of the terrace, pulling open the door: "Why sitting here alone?"
Su Tiannan turned back hearing the voice: "Drinking gave me a headache - getting some wind. You're not asleep yet?"
"Ah, I was upstairs looking at past civil service exam questions," Su Tianyu put down his water cup, bending to sit opposite: "What's wrong? I saw you seemed quite unhappy today - what's on your mind?"
"Nothing really on my mind, hehe." Su Tiannan had always been someone who kept things bottled up inside since childhood - his steady personality carried a hint of shyness and introversion.
Su Tianyu looked at him with crossed hands, asking teasingly: "Is it that Second Uncle introduced another match for you and you're unwilling?"
"...Not this matter either." Su Tiannan smiled, looking at his brother with both eyes, suddenly asking: "Hey, what do you think if I study now, go to adult night school, make up for knowledge - could I test into a good university?"
Su Tianyu blinked, looking at his big brother who was nearly thirty, asking very puzzled: "What's up, new match requires education?!"
"Fuck, I said it's not about matches...!"
"Then why talk this nonsense?" Su Tianyu replied helplessly: "Isn't everything good now?"
"...Sigh, I want to change how I live," Su Tiannan sighed, saying faintly.
