Chapter 93: Patrol Post No. 04

In the car outside the district.

Su Tianyu held the phone and said softly: "It's done."

"The person's gone?" Yu Mingyuan asked.

"Gone," Su Tianyu admitted frankly.

"You're still quite far from the city. If you head back now, you'll definitely be blocked at the border checkpoint," Yu Mingyuan replied in a steady voice. "Just got a call from a friend, quite a few people have come out from the dock gang's side."

"What do you suggest?" Su Tianyu asked.

"I'm still waiting for you at the same place. Come find me, we'll go to the garrison. Hurry!" Yu Mingyuan urged.

"Okay," Su Tianyu nodded and hung up the phone.

In the car, Su Zhengcai turned and asked: "What did Yu Mingyuan say?"

"He said quite a few people have come out from the dock gang's side, we'll definitely be blocked if we try to enter the city now," Su Tianyu replied softly. "He wants to take us to the garrison."

"Looking at it this way, our boss must have quite an unusual relationship with the garrison," Su Tianbei interjected.

"Of course it's unusual. Last time when we snatched people at Tianhong Port, the garrison already showed their face," Su Zhengcai said calmly. "Our boss is the Yu family, and behind the Yu family is the garrison."

"No need to think too much about it. If Brother Yuan says he can cover us, then we'll listen to him," Su Tianyu softly comforted everyone. "We're the runners, we just need to do our part well."

Everyone nodded at these words.

......

About fifteen minutes later.

The convoy reached the border bridge at Dragon River. Su Tianyu got out of the car and walked to Yu Mingyuan's side to ask: "Which garrison post are we going to?"

"There's only one garrison post in this area, at the foot of Little Sky Mountain," Yu Mingyuan replied. "I just called home, they want us to stay at the garrison first, wait for troops from inside the border to come pick us up, then we'll go back together."

Su Tianyu nodded: "Let's go then."

Yu Mingyuan's expression was grave: "Get in my car."

Seeing Yu Mingyuan's unusually serious expression, Su Tianyu couldn't help but ask: "With the garrison's help, is this matter still difficult to handle?"

"The dock gang has people behind them too!" Yu Mingyuan sighed and replied. "Xu Er is dead, tonight's matter won't be easy to settle. The higher-ups might have to clash earlier than expected."

"You must have taken quite some scolding for supporting the Bai family this time?" Su Tianyu probed.

"That's why I didn't enter the city early," Yu Mingyuan turned to look at him and said. "No matter what happens tonight, I'll definitely stay with you all."

Hearing this, Su Tianyu gave him a thumbs up: "Awesome!"

......

On Dragon City's southwest side, there was a continuous mountain range. The part belonging to Zone One's Dragon City side was called the Little Sky Mountain border line.

Along the border line, there were about seven or eight Dragon City border garrison troops' patrol posts, stretching about 400 kilometers. Near Dragon River's source, there was only one patrol post - Little Sky Mountain Patrol Post No. 04.

The garrison troops responsible for Dragon City's border defense were the 171st Army, under the Dragon City Garrison Command. In terms of rank and subordination rules, they only took orders from Dragon City's military-political leadership. But in reality, Zone One's supervision of Dragon City's troops was very strict. Especially after Zone One's independence war, many white commanders had been assigned to Dragon City's military-political branch. These people had their own internal mini-council and deeply intervened in military-political affairs.

The Su, Bai, and Kong families' convoy followed Yu Mingyuan's car for about thirty minutes before reaching Patrol Post No. 04.

This patrol post wasn't large, about the size of a regular border post from before the New Era, with only one squad of garrison troops, about ten people.

The patrol post had about two barracks - one dormitory and one combined dining hall and fitness center, covering about 200 square meters total. The compound had four patrol vehicles and some military equipment.

When the convoy arrived, Yu Mingyuan and his military officer friend who had arrived earlier got out first, entered the post and talked with the squad leader for less than a minute before being allowed to enter the compound.

The vehicles parked in front of the barracks. Except for the Bai family members who stayed in their car, everyone else gathered together and entered the soldiers' rest barracks.

With the garrison's protection, although everyone felt somewhat more secure, the mood wasn't very high.

Bai Hongtao was dead, his body still in the car - how the fuck could anyone be happy about that?

At the door of the room, Yu Mingyuan stood with his hands behind his back, saying softly to his military officer friend and the patrol post squad leader: "Ask when the people coming to pick us up will arrive."

"Alright," his military officer friend nodded.

"Ring ring!"

A phone rang, and Yu Mingyuan walked aside to answer: "Speak."

"Whatever you do, don't leave the garrison post. The dock gang has exploded, at least three to four hundred people have left the city. Sitting hall Wei Xiangzuo and the team leaders below, Lu Xing, have all brought people to block the city entry points," the man on the phone said softly. "If the garrison doesn't send people to pick you up, you absolutely can't leave."

"Understood," Yu Mingyuan nodded. "Keep an eye on the news from that side."

"Got it!"

They ended the call, and before Yu Mingyuan could breathe a sigh of relief, his phone screen lit up again. He looked and saw it was a text from his father.

"Stay there, they're talking at the top."

"...!" Yu Mingyuan breathed a sigh of relief and immediately replied: "Understood!"

......

Near Haiyan Pit in Dragon City, over a dozen cars were parked by the road. Sixty or seventy dock gang brothers who had rushed out from Tianhong Port had gathered, chatting in groups of three to five.

Near the lead car, Wei Xiangzuo had a cigarette in his mouth and leaned against the car door, talking with several road business leaders and team leaders.

"I just can't believe it. What's the use of putting on a show after it's all done?" a middle-aged man said with a sneer. "Four or five hundred people have come out from inside and out. With this scale, can there even be a fight? Nonsense!"

"Yeah, now those above just want to do these useless things," another person agreed unhappily. "Over ten million in goods lost, more than ten people locked up - what kind of conflict is this? This is a blood feud! If you really want to break face with the Yu family, then fucking draw lots to pick some desperados and kill Yu Mingyuan outside the district. This way we'd both get revenge and let Yu Jinrong understand that while he might have pull in Zone One, he doesn't necessarily have it in Dragon City. But now you're gathering numbers and forming formations - what's the use? Don't we understand the Yu family's style by now? They're a turtle family - as soon as things look bad, they immediately crawl into the garrison's crotch. No matter how many people we dock gang have, would you dare to move against the garrison?"

"That's the logic."

"Sigh, actually you all don't understand. Our Brother Hu now wears suits, he's not good at playing with knives and guns anymore, he's good at playing with appearances."

"...!"

The small leaders' words were filled with some dissatisfaction toward Xu Hu, as well as sarcastic mockery.

Wei Xiangzuo stood in the middle of the crowd, not saying much, just smoking with his head down.

"I estimate we'll definitely have to negotiate. The garrison will come out to meet with our customs bigwigs, work out a plan, and finally make peace for prosperity," one team leader continued. "Most likely, for our lost goods, we might get some money in compensation, but in the future... I'm afraid we'll have to give up one sea route for imports to let the Yu family operate."

"Ring ring!"

As everyone was talking, Wei Xiangzuo's phone rang. He looked at the number and answered: "Speak."

"Xu Er is dead!"

"What?!"

"Tonight might really come to blows. Xu Er is dead, just been carried back," the man on the phone said in a low voice. "Brother Hu just arrived outside the city..."

Hearing this, Wei Xiangzuo muttered in disbelief: "...Then it's over, tonight might really not just be about appearances anymore."
